The Audi R8 is Audi's mid-engine V10 supercar, built through March 2024 — so every R8 you'll find is a modern classic from its final generation. Browse Audi car rental options on Turo, and you can still feel its 5.2-liter V10 working right behind your shoulders. Audi designed it as a high-performance sports car suited to everyday driving, so it's ready for errands and weekend drives alike.
On Turo, you choose the exact R8 you want — Coupe or Spyder — from a local vehicle owner. Then you arrange pickup or delivery that fits your plans.

The R8's 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 sits right behind your seats, and it's the reason this car exists. In quattro and GT form, it makes 602 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque and revs up to 8,700 rpm. Audi says the engine is nearly identical to the one in the R8 LMS racecar — race-bred power you can feel on any on-ramp.
You'll find R8s with either quattro all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, and each one brings its own character. With quattro, the V10 makes 602 hp and sends power to all four wheels, and the Coupe quattro reaches 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive V10 performance makes 562 hp and puts all of it through the rear tires.
Every R8 uses a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, so you get the same gearbox whichever layout you pick. At the top of the range, the GT RWD is the most powerful rear-wheel-drive production Audi. Check the listing to see which drivetrain your R8 has before you book.
The R8 came in two bodies: the fixed-roof Coupe and the open-top Spyder with its fabric roof. Both seat two, so yes — the R8 is a two-seater whichever one you book. The Spyder quattro still reaches 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, just a tenth behind the Coupe quattro.
The Coupe has the edge on luggage, with 8.0 cu ft of cargo space versus 4.0 cu ft in the Spyder. Choose the Coupe for a weekend getaway with bags. Choose the Spyder when open air and V10 sound matter more than trunk space.
The R8 is one of the last naturally aspirated V10 cars, and with production over, Audi won't build any new ones. Book one for a milestone birthday, a weekend getaway, or a wedding exit — or simply to feel a V10 before it disappears. Browse R8s alongside other exotic and luxury car rentals on Turo.

Le Mans–born heritage, hand-built rarity, and a limited GT farewell set the R8 apart.
The R8 started as the Le Mans quattro concept in 2003, a show car that previewed Audi's mid-engine supercar. That concept pioneered LED headlights, the Audi Space Frame, and the digital cockpit. The first-generation R8 arrived in 2006 and turned the concept into a road car you could actually buy.
That lineage is part of the thrill when you book one today. The R8 you drive is the final chapter of an idea Audi first showed in 2003, refined over two generations. You get a supercar with a racing-born origin story to match its V10.
Audi built the R8 largely by hand at its Böllinger Höfe plant. From 2007 on, Audi built 45,949 R8s in total. The last one rolled out of Böllinger Höfe in March 2024, closing the book on the model.
That finite number is what makes today's R8 a modern classic. When you book one, you're driving a supercar Audi will never build again. Every R8 from the final generation is the newest version you'll ever find — a collectible you can still enjoy on the open road.
The R8 GT was Audi's final special edition of the R8, and Audi capped production at 333 units worldwide, with 150 for the US. It makes 602 hp and hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. It also adds its own Torque Rear drive mode, designed for controlled oversteer on track.
GTs are rare, so availability varies from listing to listing. If you spot one, treat it as a lucky find and book early. If not, any final-generation R8 still puts the same 5.2-liter V10 at the heart of your trip.

Pack light, give the engine time to warm up, and read the listing closely for trim, distance, and discounts. Here's what to know before you book.
The R8 is a two-seater with little cargo space — 8.0 cu ft in the Coupe, 4.0 cu ft in the Spyder — so pack light. Features and prices vary by year, trim, and body, so check the listing before you book.
Planning a trip to a big city? Browse Audi rentals in Los Angeles, Audi rentals in Miami, or Audi rentals in Las Vegas to see what local vehicle owners have listed.
Give the V10 time to warm up before you explore its upper revs. The R8's nose sits low, so take steep driveways and speed bumps slowly.
Stick to posted speed limits on public roads. Save track modes like Torque Rear for a closed course.
The cost to rent an R8 on Turo depends on the year, trim, body style, trip length, Extras, and delivery you choose. Each listing shows its own price, so you can compare R8s before you book.
