Our host was very good with communication. And the vehicle itself ran well. The updated Bluetooth screen was useful also for Apple CarPlay.
However, the van had been modified from the original photos that were posted from the listing. A black, rubber flooring (flex seal or similar?) had been sprayed on the floor to help with preserving the car. Listing photos had showed it was all carpet. However, the fumes from the spray were very strong. The fumes gave us a headache. This was the first day of our Maui vacation.
The host came to the vehicle in evening and placed Baking soda and charcoal briquettes to help remove the smell. But the smell was too strong and still persisted. The fumes are similar to spray paint or sharpie markers. We were able to smell it from outside the vehicle; inside the vehicle, the smell was more intense with the windows rolled up. The fumes weren’t going to be tolerated well on long stints like road to Hana. The safe and reasonable thing to do was to end the rental early and return the vehicle.
I wanted this vehicle and the reservation to work out as this was my first Turo experience, however, it ended in a disappointing fashion. However, I do hope the vehicle fumes can be remediated so that future guests won’t have to endure unpleasant fumes on their Maui vacations.

The car got us to where we were going, but there was a lot of vibration while driving at low to mid speeds (a lot of the speed limits were between 25-45;which is when it vibrated and the transmission or drive shaft didn’t sound great).
Hello Mark, the vehicle or regularly maintained driven by myself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the drivetrain of the vehicle. It’s on trips 90% of days with five star reviews. It’s unfortunate that rather than communicating you opted to tank my reviews.
I hope you had a great trip anyways. We always try to go above and beyond to accommodate our guests to ensure they have a great experience. Cheers.

We live on Lanai and have 5 toddlers. Convenience is the most valuable thing with little kids. This van delivered on convenience!
The free delivery to the harbor, easy to hook up the sound to our phones, space for all the kids and our luggage….and a surprise driver microphone feature which we discovered accidentally, was an absolute hit with the kids. 10:10 recommend and will absolutely rent again.
