To be honest, this is not a very pleasant experience. I will try to make it fact-based.
1. Communication with the owner was less desirable.
a. One day before the trip, I was trying to make a change to the trip. The owner said I could change through the Turo app. After I made the change, he ignored the change request until I tried to cancel the trip. Then there were hiccups approving the change. So, I had to reorder and end up paying more since it was a last-minute order.
b. The car was running late for pickup, but we were not informed of the delay until 10 minutes before the pick-up time. As a result, we waited for an hour to pick up the car.
c. The owner asked us to install a software to use the car but didn't tell us to wait until the car was picked up. I installed the app while waiting for the car and found that my credit card was used for charging the car before I picked up. I asked the owner for a refund, but he said this can only be handled after my trip.
d. When returning the car, I found the instruction very confusing, so I sent a message to the owner for clarification but didn't get a reply before we left.
e. When I asked for a refund again, he ignored the message and sent me an invoice for the milage reimbursement.
f. When I asked the owner to deduct the refund amount from the new invoice, he said he could do nothing about refunding and asked me to contact Turo.
g. I did ask Turo to get the refund but felt extremely frustrating the whole process trying to figure out what to do.
2. The car was very old and the FSD was not functioning as expected. It led us to two dangerous situations and strayed to unpaved roadways without noticing. Its battery has aged. We had to charge every 100-120 miles, and the cost for charging is way more expensive than fueling gas.
We’re sorry parts of your trip were frustrating. Billing items and reimbursements were processed through Turo according to policy and trip records. This was a 2022 Model Y Performance, not a Long Range, so the lower range is due to the Performance setup, not battery age. Driving 1,000+ miles in 3 days at sustained 70+ mph highway speeds also increases battery usage significantly. Teslas are still a learning curve for many drivers, and we’ll strive for a better experience next time.

There was a small glitch on our initial delivery and Kyle called immediately to alert us and kept his word and made it right. It was my first time using Turo and having someone that went out of their way to try to help work with us to ensure we had a great experience was very appreciated. I would not hesitate to use him again for future visits.
