The host was punctual for the initial pickup and drop off, and the vehicle was clean and pleasant to drive. However, significant issues severely impacted our experience. The vehicle was advertised as an 8-passenger vehicle but only had 7 seatbelts, which was unsafe and illegal for our group of 8. This was a critical issue, as we specifically booked an 8-passenger vehicle due to our group’s special needs (small children, elderly, handicapped), and Uber or two-vehicle options were not viable alternatives. We were forced to use the unsafe vehicle for several days, causing stress and safety concerns, though Turo eventually provided a full refund after our formal claim.
The host acknowledged the issue from the start and promised to deliver a replacement 8-passenger vehicle to our rental home. We facilitated the exchange by moving the original vehicle to a convenient location 10 feet from the Highway, but after driving the replacement to our location, the host refused to complete the exchange, citing a refueling concern without communicating it at the time or offering any chance for resolution, despite a 24-hour gas station being only 1.4 miles away. This was frustrating and unprofessional, especially given the accessibility of our location and our efforts to cooperate.
While the host was initially responsive, their refusal to offer a discount or compromise and their dismissive attitude added to our hardship. I appreciate Turo’s resolution but hope the host updates their listing to reflect accurate seating capacity and improves communication to prevent similar issues for future renters.
The Santa Fe is an 8-seat vehicle as listed. I drove nearly 2 hours at night to bring a replacement at your request, yet you left the car with no gas in a remote area. It is not part of customer satisfaction to put my life at risk.You also pushed for a discount and even tried to get the vehicle for free. I declined, as I had already gone above and beyond. With 30+ 5-star bookings, this was by far my most difficult guest, and the review does not reflect the truth. You are the worst customer ever.
