Car was great for our trip and needs! Host was helpful and was willing to work with us! Would rent from again!

Easy trip and easy car to use

Very kind host! Let us extend multiple times since we just moved here and our car was delayed shipping from overseas. Car was extremely reliable, comfortable and roomy. Would rent from Chunhua again.

Dana •

The extra storage space made this perfect for our road trip for our family of 6. The host was quick and responsive to our recommendations.

I was waffling between 3 and 4 stars; but rounding up to 4 since the host was super responsive.

The vehicle is a basic 7-seater Highlander; no bells and whistles (e.g., any sort of driving assistance features beyond a backup camera; so no adaptive cruise control or blind spot detection or etc). But it runs great, and is a good price. The AC works great as well, and the vehicle has a hitch for a bike or cargo rack, which is exactly what I needed. (But so far as I could tell, no electrical hookup for brake signals, e.g., for a trailer).

The cons: there is a certain smell to the vehicle, which both I and my passengers noticed; they thought it might be that someone used to smoke in it. With airing out the car it diminished somewhat, and we got used to it. But it was initially quite unpleasant. There were air fresheners in the glove compartment, but honestly those just swap one smell for a different artificial smell which was even more overwhelming; so I stuck them in a ziplock bag and attached them outside the car to avoid them contributing to the interior aroma.

The car comes with a roof rack; I recommend asking the owner to take it off. Per the Internet, it significantly adds drag to the vehicle, and experimentally it seemed so as well, going from 17mpg to closer to 20mpg. That was also on different roads, however, so not sure if it’s a true comparison. Still, if you won’t need it, may as well consume less gas…
