Host was good with communication and for that they get 3 stars from me, but we are definitely disappointed in the fact that the 2024 Lexus UXh had extremely bald tires in the front and very dry rotted.
I mentioned this to the host at 6am the morning of pickup, I also uploaded pictures since he said he wasn’t aware of their condition. I mentioned I was concerned about the very poor condition of the front tires, host replied back saying “the car just had a safety inspection 2 months ago and passed” ….
What bothered me was, the lack of care here for a vehicle that is used as a tool to make money.
The fact that The car is parked in the host’s driveway along with 3 other rentals and you haven’t noticed the horrible condition of the tires? This is his business they are running keep in mind. I find it mind blowing that having a car parked in your own driveway and you do not periodically check the condition of the tires and only rely on a check up 3rd party every couple to few months? In a couple months this car can drive 10’s THOUSANDS of miles. The car has 55k miles on it and it’s only 2 years old, so it gets used quite a bit. The math is there.
I mentioned I was taking family with kids to Las Vegas which is about 700 miles round trip through the desert.
If this was my rental business, for the safety of the rental, people inside the car and others on the road, I would be sending my customer to go get tires put on the car the day of the rental if I saw how bad the tires were. Although us having to get new tires would not of been convenient for us, on day of departure, we would have certainly went and took the time to get new front tires put on the car to feel safe. Again, I did sent pics of the tires to the owner on the morning rented the car and was concerned. They said they “would look into it when the car was returned after
our trip”… so I drove 700 miles on the edge of my seat and anxious about the tires.
I asked what if we have a blowout or flat the reply was “you can use Turo roadside assistance. Meaning it’s not my problem it will be your problem with Turo. Not the way I would expect to go about it. Let’s prevent a disaster not deal with it when it comes up and make it the customers problem.
