The vehicle itself was good and clean. The transmission was responsive in the lower range, although there was some lag in the mid-range. The host was also flexible with the pickup arrangements and who could pick up the vehicle.
Unfortunately, the experience outside of the vehicle was difficult.
I had to take an unexpected emergency trip and was going to meet my family halfway through the trip, so my wife had to handle the vehicle pickup with our three young kids, including our 1-year-old.
Our flight was delayed less than an hour, and we notified the host before takeoff. Despite the delay, he met my wife outside baggage claim and insisted she come out before she had even retrieved our luggage. She had three young children with her and five pieces of luggage/items to collect. The host had parked illegally and was being told by a police officer to move the vehicle. He essentially handed her the keys and told her to get the bags quickly because the car could be towed, while also mentioning that he had a game to get to and asking her to follow him on Instagram.
The situation left her in an impossible position: she couldn't leave the kids alone, couldn't drive away because she didn't yet have the car seat, and was responsible for getting all of the luggage while dealing with a car that had been illegally parked.
The return was similarly frustrating. We requested a one-hour extension from noon to 1 PM but received no response, so we assumed the extension was not approved and rushed to return the car at noon as originally scheduled. When we arrived at the designated rideshare lot, we couldn't enter because the host apparently did not have an agreement allowing the car to be returned there.
At 12:09 PM, we called him. He said he thought we were returning at 1 PM, then claimed he had never seen that we were returning at noon. I have a screenshot showing the original noon return time.
He then said he'd meet us at the airport at 1 PM. Since we were now waiting around, we went to lunch. At 12:34 PM, he called asking where we were, and we reminded him that he had said 1 PM.
The car itself was fine, but the pickup/return experience and communication made the rental unnecessarily stressful. This experience is unfortunately the reason I would be very hesitant to book Turo again.
