Unfortunately, the front windshield was damaged with a white film that covered the entire windshield. When picking up the vehicle, I thought it was just a salty film that would come off, with a light cleaning and didn't think much of it upon pickup. During the day, the visibility was minorly impaired. Where it became hazardous, was when it became dark out and it rained! Having the lights from other cars in addition to the white film on the windshield while raining made it very hazardous and virtually impossible to drive the vehicle in the evening with rain. It also happens to be the rainy season in Hilo, so, we didn't feel safe driving the vehicle at night during our 8 day stay. I contacted the host, explained the situation, asked for some sort of compensation, yet, they have yet to offer me anything, commenting "its just a light film and shrugging off my communication." I let him know that I wouldn't be wasting my time or his, if there wasn't a serious issue at hand. If you are planning on renting this vehicle, I'd make sure to ask the host if the windshield has been repaired/replaced, for safety reasons. I hate writing a negative review, but if you are host, renting a vehicle at a premium price, you need to make sure that your vehicle is in top operating condition, both during the day and at night, with all driving conditions considered.

We have had 62 trips and no one else has complained about the windshield. It is not cracked or scratched. The guest after this trip has enjoyed the vehicle. It is mechanically sound and comfortable to ride with cold AC.
I was notified of the complaint late Wednesday night and they returned the car on Friday. The guest did not want to meet in person. The sent a picture revealing that the issue is the glare from the white exterior of the car.
This is a great car and I do my best as a host.
The car was great for exploring the big island with my parents! Great value too
