I booked this vehicle for a long-term trip (1/9/26–4/12/26) and picked it up yesterday at 1:30 PM. At pickup, I noticed the tires looked slightly low, but the car drove fine initially. Less than 24 hours into the trip, the car alerted me to low tire pressure.

I contacted the host to explain that the tires already appeared low at pickup and that I was concerned the vehicle may not have been properly inspected prior to the rental. Rather than addressing the concern, the host was dismissive and focused on explaining cold-weather tire pressure instead of acknowledging the safety issue. When I expressed that I was uncomfortable continuing the trip due to safety concerns, he stated the issue was not present at the start of the trip and suggested it was “odd” that I would consider returning the vehicle rather than “just pumping the tires,” which made the interaction feel unprofessional and unhelpful.

To ensure my safety, I took the vehicle to America’s Tire, where a technician informed me that the tires had little to no tread and were unsafe. That was very concerning, especially for a vehicle intended to be rented for several months.

I ultimately canceled the trip due to both the condition of the vehicle and the host’s response to legitimate safety concerns. Prior to the trip, the host also attempted to cancel the reservation the day before pickup due to maintenance issues and replaced it with another vehicle. While I appreciate that an alternative was provided, this replacement vehicle also appeared not to have been thoroughly inspected.

Overall, the experience felt disorganized, and the host’s communication and attitude when concerns were raised did not instill confidence. I would recommend proceeding with caution and confirming vehicle condition carefully before booking.

Sorry you had concerns about the vehicle. I clearly stated the reason for the low tire pressure, which is common when daily temperatures fluctuate. Regarding tire threads, I actually maintain my car at American Tire Depot, and they said it’s fine. They told you it’s low on thread… because they sell tires.

I have no idea why with no other issue besides tire pressure, you decided to rate this car poorly. Hope the best for you with other turo hosts.

My trip quickly turned sour after driving only about 50 miles (OC to LAX). The car experienced significant safety issues:
- Violent shaking while in drive mode.
- A burning smell, likely from the engine.
- The driver's side headlight blew out.

The vehicle was unusable for the rest of the rental, forcing me to arrange alternative transportation. I had to leave the car at my hotel for the host to fix.

With over 110,000 miles, this car is, in my opinion, unsafe and should not be rented. I added one star only for the host's effort to address the issue; otherwise, it would be one star.

These issues were addressed after your trip. Unfortunately since your husband, a non-approved driver was driving the car, made communicating through the app difficult.

I traveled an hour to fix the issue. Repaired the headlights and addressed repairs while in the rain. When you asked for a discount and refund - it was difficult to give one because of the time spent to address the problems.

Moreover, the issues you cited were overblown as I could tell you drove the vehicle shortly earlier.
