The host was a fairly nice guy, but the vibes were off when he pointed out a scuff on the back trunk at pickup time of the rental and asked if I had insurance. To be clear, I didn’t damage the car and this is a 2011 with scratches and dents on every panel. It left a really bad impression especially since we didn’t get the best car for this last minute need (rentals were sold out due to car recalls). So to be transparent I wanted to mention the reality of the vehicle. It’s a 2011 Nissan Rogue, it has a broken starter so you turn it on without an actual key and have to use a keyfob hover over the key ignition. The doors buzz loud when you lock the car. The auxiliary port doesn’t work so you ride with no music in the car (we played music off our phones directly). Lastly, and the most worrisome is there is an airbag sensor light that is constantly blinking. After he tried to ask for my insurance for the scuff, I pointed out all these issues with the car including the dangerous sensor and he dropped the topic. If you don’t care and just want a “cheap” car go for it, but Turo should inspect what cars get used by hosts. I was gonna just let all that slide because he was nice up until then and I knew it was an older car. However, if you read other reviews the sensor and everything I called out, others did as well. I think it matters that other people know so he doesn’t try it again. Also “cheap” was $250 for 16 hours (1 day) including the extra insurance for $30. This car should never be rented for that much and since it was my first time using Turo it was a lesson learned. The only redeeming quality is the AC was very strong. This was not a great first time using Turo. Beware and be safe out there.

Car Quality not Good , My Wife didn’t feel safe with some type of engine light flashing , No Radio ( had a blue tooth speaker ) ignition was Broke started without a key I got vehicle without a Full Tank , I was supposed to turn in Vehicle at 6 but turned it on at 4:25 do to not being Comfortable !!!

I apologize that you weren’t able to cancel your booking without a fee. It is Turo’s policy to charge you a cancelation fee and not ours. We feel sorry that you did not have an overall experience with the summer prices being high. We recommend you make reservations prior to your vacations specially in Hawaii’s market if you don’t want to pay surge prices by booking last minute. We adjusted to your time for pickup as requested and will strive to improve the overall experience of our guests.
