Unfortunately, although the host was very friendly, communication was not ideal. Several messages went unanswered for days, which was stressful while preparing an important trip.
The main disappointment was the cancellation of our original reservation. We had booked a blue Ford Bronco more than three months in advance for our honeymoon road trip. Only five days before pickup, the reservation was cancelled overnight without a phone call or any prior communication.
Travis explained that the vehicle was no longer available due to a recall. We understand that situations like this can happen, but from a customer perspective it was very frustrating to have a reservation confirmed for over three months cancelled only five days before our trip.
We specifically chose this vehicle for our trip and had already planned around it. At that point, there were almost no alternatives left on the market. Travis eventually offered us his red Bronco instead, and we really had no other option but to accept.
It is especially disappointing because, without this issue and the stress it created, this would likely have been a 5 star experience. I had to contact Turo support several times, and the process was quite laborious, simply to secure the replacement Bronco at the same price, as there was approximately a $250 price difference between the two vehicles.
In our opinion, Turo should do more to protect guests from last minute cancellations on long confirmed reservations. When a vehicle is booked months in advance, guests should be able to rely on that booking.
As for the replacement vehicle itself, it was fantastic. The Bronco was nearly new with only 4,000 miles on the odometer. We drove almost 3,000 km without a single issue and had an amazing time. The vehicle was comfortable, practical, and perfect for our road trip. The vehicle itself deserves 5 stars.

For clarity, Turo, not me, canceled the reservation after automatically unlisting the Bronco due to a Ford-announced safety recall. Once notified, I offered an identical replacement Bronco (same year, trim, and model; only the color differed). I’m glad it performed well on your 3,000 km road trip and supported a successful honeymoon.
