This was unfortunately a very disappointing first experience using Turo.
The vehicle we received was not in a clean condition. There was visible dirt throughout the vehicle, food debris under seats, numerous marks/scuffs throughout the interior, and overall it did not appear to have been properly cleaned prior to pickup despite being described as professionally cleaned.
Because we had already traveled a significant distance from the airport and were unfamiliar with Turo’s process as first-time users, we did not realize declining the vehicle was realistically an option at that point.
Much of the conversation with the host became defensive and centered around how our report at check-in was affecting his account and future bookings, which made us feel pressured and blamed simply for reporting what we observed.
Additionally, we were advised by the host to handle reimbursement for airport parking outside the Turo platform, which was not disclosed in the booking process. This later resulted in us receiving a policy warning from Turo regarding gray-market transactions, adding even more confusion and stress to the situation.
Turo support initially acknowledged the concerns and advised us to follow up at the end of the trip regarding a partial refund since returning the vehicle was impractical. However, after doing exactly what we were instructed to do, the claim was escalated and ultimately denied without meaningful explanation.
Overall, this experience left us feeling unsupported both by the host and by Turo’s customer service process. I’m sure others may have different experiences, but based on ours, we would be very hesitant to use Turo again.
I’m sorry this trip didn’t meet your expectations. The car was professionally detailed the night before your pickup, and the exterior fuel door issue was cosmetic only; the car has a sealed, capless fuel system and was safe to drive. It was repaired right away. I reimbursed the airport parking as a courtesy and Turo has recently changed their policy to prefer doing that with cash instead. It is telling that your review on me personally was written after being unsuccessful with Turo support.
