Had to return the car due to overheating

I’m giving a 3 star rating because the car was decent at first. I was able to drive it home and park it. It was a day before Thanksgiving and that’s where it went downhill. I drove around Denver on the highway for about 30-60 minutes and came home noticing there was a spill in my driveway that wasn’t there before but thought maybe it was the air conditioning/heater or something, so I didn’t think anything of it. Thanksgiving day, I drove to the grocery store and started to head home and noticed an alarm and the check engine light flashing. The alarm said the car was overheated. It began smoking from under the hood so I pulled over at the gas station and asked the owner what I should do. I noticed that the coolant was completely empty. He said just get it towed to his shop. Which would’ve been fine but it’s Thanksgiving and I have no way home and no car for my trip! The owner said there’s nothing they can do, they can’t help with refunds, can’t help book another ride, which was fine but the dryness and lack of concern is what was relayed. I had a newborn in my backseat so I couldn’t just sit in the car and wait for the tow and miss Thanksgiving. I left the car and got a uber home. I looked at reviews after getting home and saw that others had similar problems with the car overheating and smoking. Idk what happened but I did get a refund from Turo but the fact this car had other reported problems means they neglected to fix it before I got it.
Thank you for sharing this experience. I’m very sorry this happened, especially on Thanksgiving and with a newborn in the car. The overheating was caused by a coolant leak that wasn’t visible during the pre-trip inspection, and the vehicle has since been fully repaired. I understand how stressful this was and appreciate you bringing it to my attention so I can improve future trips.

There was a smell coming from the engine but the car drove smoothly

Regarding the smell, the vehicle was inspected afterward, and everything checked out fine—sometimes a brief odor can occur from condensation or road debris near the engine after extended driving.
