I notified the host immediately so he would have time to arrange the necessary repairs, and his response was to file a report according to the Turo app's instructions, which I found obtuse since the app itself recommends that the parties involved agree and find the best solution for everyone. Since it's a new car being rented through an app, it clearly needs insurance, and this type of incident is common and practically all insurance policies cover it with a minimal deductible payment.

When we handed the car over to the host's wife, we inspected it and found some very minor imperfections on the rear bumper and a small scratch on the plastic inside the trunk, which I consider to be normal wear and tear. However, the host presented an invoice for $2,118.91. I had paid for standard insurance during my trip, so it was necessary to pay the $500 fee stipulated in the policy.
