The host was generally helpful with quick responses to messages, and the car functioned as expected. However, the interior strongly smelled of cigarette smoke and the half-dozen assorted air fresheners in it only made the smell worse, not cover it up. I even had to wipe down the windows myself because they had a visible film built up on them.
When I mentioned the issue to the host, she offered a quick apology but otherwise dismissed it, simply reminding me that it was a "non-smoking" rental.
Luckily, this didn’t completely ruin my trip, as I was able to dissipate the smell enough by airing the car out occasionally and putting the air fresheneres in the center console. However, if you are highly sensitive to smoke, this could easily be a deal-breaker.
Mr. Rutger, we are genuinely surprised by comment regarding the smoke odor, because the vehicle has been last rented a month ago before your trip so we are not sure how the smell developed. Also, we use professional ozon cleaners for odor elimination and most certainly did not attempt to cover up any odor with air freshener, vehicle simply was delivered to you as it was prepared. Thank you for your feedback, we would be happy to serve you in future and hopefully meet your expectations next time.
