How safe is renting from Turo
I would not recommend it I iust returned the car I rented. Had a flat tire right after I got on the highway. That tire had the lock lug nut missing and the post was rusted so I m wondering if somebody had repaired it and did not report it!!! Contacted Turo and they weren't much help so I put on the spare and drove it to Discount tires, the puncture was on the sidewall so I replaced the tire!! Turo and/ or owner did not reimburse me so I will not be using Turo again. Turo finally replied with an email on day 4 saying we were out of luck. It was the original tire so already it had 17000 miles on it!! Lesson learned!!

Apologies for your less-than-stellar experience.
Since the tire puncture happened while you were driving the vehicle, and it was unfixable per your chosen mechanic, you were responsible for replacing the tire. Tires typically last 40 to 60k miles and there was no pre-existing damage prior to your rental. Road hazard responsibility is industry standard.
I did not charge you for the disgusting manner in which you left the vehicle, nor for the spare tire which is no longer usable.
