New car, pick up 15 mins from airport. Disappointing interaction with host and TURO after we had a major plan change. Note: we did use the “no-refund” option. However we had extenuating circumstances arise more than two weeks out and were unable to cancel or modify reservation. Neither host nor TURO would consider our situation and we got stuck with a rental car (and bill) we essentially didn’t need. Host was generally nice about it, and tried to compensate in other ways, but didn’t respond when given the option by TURO and this soured the entire TURO interaction and even our trip.
Note to future guests: if you book a non-refundable trip, only Turo can issue a refund to you after confirming the reason for cancelation. Us hosts are bound by the terms of service and must fulfill the reservation as it stands. The fact that Turo did not honor its cancelation policy for this guest means that they did not find the circumstances extenuating.
