Great to work with easy pick up and drop off. very prompt with responses when needing help, vehicle was in great condition and I would definitely rent from him again!

Car was good. AC was weak, sunroof didn’t close so we had the sun in our eyes constantly.

The vehicle (2016 Audi Q5) itself was clean, with only a couple of minor surprises like a half eaten package of cheese crackers in the passenger door, and a SIM card installed in the console (creepy!).

The car did show its age and location. Backup camera was very hazy even after cleaning the lens. The windshield had a crack all the way across, but this seems to be more of an Alaska thing.

It also did NOT have the cargo cover that’s in the Turo photos, so travelers beware. Also of note is that if you are not familiar with this car, the media controls are BELOW the gearshift, and it requires good muscle memory to use if you don’t want to be looking down all the time.

One safety concern is that there was no washer fluid, so after a long day of bug splats, driving toward the sun was challenging. We also had an intermittent “Service Needed” alert when we’d start the car.

The smell is another story: the tree hanging from the rearview mirror smelled like teenagers not wanting their parents to know they smoke weed in the car. Phew!

The Turo experience itself was a challenge for a seemingly minor tweak: we asked if the car was available to pick up early, and Nathan got back to me right away saying it was not. Cool, no problem. He then messaged later saying it was ready if we wanted to adjust our reservation and pick it up.

We were excited to do so. That’s when the hiccups started. The app wouldn’t let us change it, and he told us to contact Turo since it was an app issue. Turo, in turn, said it was a Nathan-issue because they needed an update from him as it was ‘Unavailable’ in the system. Back to Nathan saying it’s on their end. Back to Turo saying he owes them paperwork. Back to Nathan saying it was submitted. An hour of He Said, They Said with me as the marriage counselor.

So, TL/DR: solid choice for a 15-year old car, just don’t leave luggage unattended in the trunk, and roll the windows down if you are sensitive to smells.
