Unfortunately, we had a very poor first experience with Turo. When we picked up the car, it smelled so strongly of air freshener that it was hard to breathe. We drove with the windows down for a while, but I eventually said, “There is no way I can stand this any longer.”
We messaged Noah, and he told us frankly that the previous renter had used marijuana in the car and that Turo had instructed him to cover the smell with air freshener. Thankfully, he did allow us to switch to another car, although he said he did not think Turo would refund us.
We did receive a replacement vehicle, but we asked for a partial refund to account for the inconvenience and unpleasant experience and were denied by both Noah and Turo. Honestly, I wish we had just rented from a traditional car rental company where you know what to expect and they take care of you because they want your return business.
