This was an exceptional experience. Max was an amazing host. We had our initial reservation cancelled last minute (that review will not be good), Max went out his way to help and got us to the car earlier that we had previously planned. This was my first time driving an EV, Max explained everything which made the trip very easy. He also has another EV available to reserve. I will definitely be using this host in the future.

Renting this Mustang was one of the best parts of my trip. The car was exactly as described—clean, well maintained, and an absolute pleasure to drive. But what really stood out was the host. Communication was fast, the pickup was seamless, and every detail was handled with genuine care and professionalism. They say great classics only become more valuable with time. I think the same is true of people who consistently do things the right way—you appreciate them even more after every great experience. Thank you for making everything so easy. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from you again. Highly recommended.

A trip to Toronto wouldn't be complete without visiting the iconic, towering Niagara Falls. After making the 90-minute drive from Toronto, visitors can experience the falls from viewing platforms, boat tours, or scenic lookouts along the Niagara Parkway. Having a rental car makes the journey straightforward and allows for leisurely stops and small towns detours along the way.
Though Toronto is a bustling city with great public transportation options, many visitors to the area choose to rent a car for a seamless trip. Before you collect your vehicle from Toronto Pearson International Airport, here are a few handy hints to help you feel confident on the roads.
Picking up rental vehicles near Toronto Pearson International Airport is simple and straightforward. Once you've booked a car on the Turo marketplace, message your host in the app to confirm an off-airport location for collection. Discuss how you'll meet (in person versus contactless) and any other details, such as a drop box location for the keys. Then, once you arrive, there's no need to stand in a line at the airport car rental counter — just grab your bags and head to pick up your rental vehicle.
To arrange drop-off of your car rental from Turo, confirm the location ahead of time — at least a few days before your departure is ideal. Then, when it's time to head home, all you need to do is meet them or drop the rental car off at the organized spot near Toronto Pearson Airport. If you're parking in a secure parking garage, take a ticket and leave it inside the vehicle so your host can exit safely.
Toronto Pearson International Airport is roughly a 25 to 30-minute drive from the downtown area, depending on traffic and your final destination. Public transportation also services this route, with the Union Pearson (UP) express train taking approximately 45 minutes from door to door. If you're collecting your car rental from Toronto Pearson International Airport, the drive is simple — take ON-427 S and follow it as it becomes the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway until you reach the city.
Due to its density and size, driving in Toronto isn’t always straightforward. While roads are well-maintained and mostly direct, challenges like congestion, construction, and one-way sections arise, so it pays to get a run-down of the area before you drive.
Like the rest of Canada, driving in Ontario means sticking to the right-hand side of the road, wearing a seatbelt at all times, obeying road signage and speed limits, and avoiding handheld phone use, which is strictly prohibited. In the downtown area, be mindful of Toronto’s streetcars (trams), which have the right of way when passengers are boarding or exiting.
Speed limits are clearly posted throughout Toronto, and tend to sit around 40 to 50 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the CBD, 30 km/h in school zones, and between 80 and 100 km/h on highways like the Don Valley Parkway. Many parts of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have automated speed cameras, particularly near schools and in residential areas.
Traffic in Toronto can be heavy, especially during peak hours and on major routes like the Gardiner Expressway, Highway 401, and Lake Shore Boulevard. From late fall to early spring, snow and ice can significantly impact conditions. While roads are cleared regularly, extra caution and time are always recommended to avoid accidents with your rental vehicle.
Parking in Toronto can be competitive, particularly in the downtown area. There are numerous parking garages available, including Green P Carpark 36 (110 Queen Street West, by Nathan Phillips Square) and the underground parking at Yonge-Dundas Square, but it’s always worth arriving early or at an off-peak time to secure a spot.
Street parking is also an option in the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods, but it’s often metered and time-restricted. If you’re headed into downtown Toronto during a busy period, consider parking your rental car at a nearby public transit station and taking the bus or subway from there.
Toronto has one major toll road — the Highway 407 Express Toll Route (ETR), which runs from east to west across the northern part of the Greater Toronto Area. It is a fully electronic toll road, with charges based on distance travelled and calculated via transponder or license plate recognition. Other major roads and highways in Toronto, including Highway 401, the Gardiner Expressway, and the Don Valley Parkway, are free to use.
As a major metropolitan area, the GTA has ample gas stations and a well-developed EV charging infrastructure. For those driving traditional fuel vehicles, stick to major streets and near entry points to highways like the Gardiner Expressway to find gas stations. Convenient options downtown include the Petro-Canada (55 Spadina Avenue) and Shell (38 Spadina Avenue) in the Entertainment District, the Esso by the University of Toronto (132 Harbord Street), and the Esso at Bathurst Quay (553 Lake Shore Boulevard W).
To charge up your electric car or plug-in hybrid, head to one of the numerous parking garages, malls, or council buildings in the city centre. Toronto Eaton Centre (220 Yonge Street) offers FLO stations, whereas The Well (486 Front Street W) has a number of ChargePoint chargers. You’ll also find places to charge your rental vehicle scattered throughout the city, including at most Green P garages.
Toronto has an extensive public transportation system made up of a subway, streetcars, and buses, which is very efficient for travel within the downtown area. However, many attractions and day-trip destinations like Niagara are located further out, requiring greater flexibility.
A car rental on Turo gives you the ability to explore areas outside the city centre, travel on your own schedule, and avoid crowded transit during peak times. If convenience and freedom are top of mind for you, having a car is the best way to see Toronto.
When you book a rental car near Toronto Pearson International Airport on Turo, you’ll have access to a wide range of vehicles suited to every travel style. Select a compact car for city driving, a mid-size sedan for road-trip comfort, an SUV for extra space, or a luxury vehicle for a premium experience.
