It was nice to have a Tesla with FSD to help navigate the Island and make it easier to see more sights.

Turo is for convenience, this was far from it. The entire trip became a disaster, all surrounding issues starting with communication from the host. Then being told after the trip had begun that the charging adapter was not supplied because we are required to only use Tesla superchargers for it. They are extremely limited on the island of Oahu and they continuously demanded we only could use the supercharger (which for us was just a completely inconvenience and out of the way). The response to why they didn’t supply the adapter or even inform that in the trip details, all they stated was “those chargers take forever, supercharger is 30 minutes”… yes I get that but charging it at our hotel where we were staying that had EV charging and could have used those adapters also would’ve been a lot more convenient..
During the reservation it had us select our airline and terminal of arrival, it showed, “Turo: Please specify what airline you’re flying in with so that we can better assist your Turo reservation.”
Terminal 1 - Inter-island Flights
Terminal 2 - International Flights
We select Terminal 1, It’s asks what’s airline. We input HAWAIIAN Airlines. On top of us notifying them that we need a car seat for a baby, they got both of these notifications weeks prior to the trip. Unfortunately the car was not in terminal 1. With three suitcases, for three adults, and a baby, we had to walk half a mile or 2,200 feet, to get from Hawaiian airline baggage claim to the international parking lot.
In addition we requested a car seat for our 2 year old, we have photo proof with time stamps pickup, showing an entire bags worth of child’s crackers under the cushion of the car seat. The only reason we had checked was because the car seat itself already looked pretty dirty and we wanted to wipe it down before putting our daughter in that thing.
The host uploaded their pre trip photos of the vehicle in front of their home and the vehicle was picked up at the airport parking garage. The host deliberately did not upload any pictures of the vehicles windshield at the airport where I picked the vehicle up.. they had photos of the side of the car, back but not a single picture of the front of the car in the airport parking garage. Come to find out the windshield had a minor crack that they “were unaware of” once we notified them.
Thankfully in one of our photos you can barely see the crack on the windshield due to Turo simplifying the file size of the photos and quality when uploading them. The crack grew and we notified the host and they continuously denied being aware of one. We hadn’t found out until about 30 minutes post trip and have time stamp video from my wife in the passenger seat recording and you can see it in there. Unfortunately Turo doesn’t allow you to upload videos which would help solidify our case.
We are now stuck fighting an insurance case with Turo as we feel this co host or whoever drove the vehicle from the place with the red parking garage, to the airport where we picked it up what they were doing by not informing us of a new crack in the windshield. Hoping that we get the blame pinned on us and are liable to pay for their accident. NO camera will pick a tiny abrasion up unless you know it’s there and focus on it. Again, we thankfully have a clear photo and video showing less than 30 minutes into the trip the actual crack from my wife recording in the passenger seat.
Then for the co host to deliberately not have any pictures of the windshield in the actual location the vehicle was picked up, the pictures they uploaded of the front of the vehicle pre travel were in fronts of their home. The fact I have to leave such a review and go this far with the claims and investigation team is absurd and I wish this upon nobody.
You can see some pretty unprofessionalism as well per the hosts responses to another 1 star review they received, and their response is to call the person renting their vehicle, and putting food on the table for their family, “a looser”. I’m not complaining about having to pay for charging or parking at the airport either, I’m complaining about some legit real issues at hand. Yet I’m sure I’ll have a very unprofessional, argumentative response back from them as well. But I hope whoever read this far never has to deal with this host. Their rates are lower and cheaper for a reason. Spend the extra $5-$10. Don’t let the bunch of bogus 5 star reviews they have from quick day trips fool you into having a vacation from hell like my family. Godbless.
