I would never ever rent a car from Turo. My rental car’s wheels got stolen during my month long trip. In a parking lot of more than 50 cars only my car’s wheels got stolen and when I towed the car to a nearby garage they had 4 other cars from the same Host’s company and guess what they all had the same case of stolen wheels. After this strange incident I’m doubtful of Turo’s security, it’s obvious from the incident that someone got to know the location coordinates of my vehicle and who might be behind this? I would leave that to your interpretation based on whatever I have said before. After this incident I was told I would get an alternative vehicle the next day and I had to face Turo’s amazing customer support I had to tell each of the agents my story and they would put me for 30 minutes hold. A few make promises that I would get an alternative vehicle and if I follow up on it they say that won’t provide it. I got crushed and frustrated by this low quality customer support. On top of it they shortened my trip without my consent and slapped me with $300 for shortening the trip because I’m no longer eligible for monthly discount. After all this substandard service I strongly urge anyone to not to rent from these guys.
If we return the vehicle late we’ll be charged extra, if fuel tank is not full they will charge us extra any small inconvenience they charge us but when they cause inconvenience they expect us to just end the trip and get done with it. Who is going to consider the inconvenience they cause for customers who are liable for it? Aren’t we supposed to reverse charge Turo for all the inconvenience. I want to take this to consumer court for not providing any kind of support after whatever I went through. I just moved from Minnesota to Texas for my new job, unfortunately I rented from these guys thinking that I can search and move into an apartment and commute to my work daily, right when I needed the car the most this incident happened and these guys didn’t provide me any kind of support. From now on I would rather rent from some good company even if it costs more.
We are truly sorry this happened during your trip. We acted immediately, arranged towing, stayed in touch, and offered a replacement. This was a random theft out of our control, part of a larger wave of wheel thefts across Texas. A few weeks earlier, some of our cars were hit the same way. Before the incident, you said, “It’s one of the best rentals I’ve ever had.” We have faced big losses too but remain fully committed to great service.
