I want to share my experience for transparency and to help future renters make informed decisions.
Prior to pickup, I was notified approximately one hour in advance that the vehicle had a “faint” odor of marijuana. Due to my work schedule, I had limited ability to make alternative arrangements and proceeded with the rental. Upon entering the vehicle, the odor was significantly stronger than described and appeared to be masked with heavy air freshener, which created an additional concern as it triggered asthma symptoms for my passenger.
Shortly after pickup, I noticed a knocking noise from the front driver-side area while driving. I initially drove a short distance home and then, upon driving again the following morning, confirmed the noise persisted. I promptly communicated this to the host and described the concern in detail. Based on the nature of the noise and potential safety implications, I made the decision to return the vehicle early rather than continue operating it. This vehicle had serious safety problems as there seen to be a ball or control arm issue.
The host was initially cooperative and acknowledged the early return; however, after the vehicle was returned, the situation became disputed, with the issue being attributed to my use of the vehicle. It is important to note that I reported the concern early in the trip and limited my use of the vehicle once the issue was identified.
After return, the host attributed the issue to my use despite my early report and minimal driving. I contacted Turo, and they reviewed everything and confirmed no damage was attributed to me.
The vehicle also did not fully match the listing (cosmetic issues, residue in the trunk, and fuel 3/4 from full ). I returned it with a full tank regardless.As someone working in healthcare, vehicle condition and environmental factors (including strong odors) are especially important, and this experience did not meet expectations in those areas.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend renting from this host. Please scroll past some of the good reviews and see this host has a history of renting out vehicles reeking of weed and “okay” conditions and problems
Briana. There is no mention about any issue until the day after your trip was over. The whole car suspension was damaged. Nobody can drive the car even 1 mile the way you returned my vehicle.
Very dishonest and bad driver. Shame on you
