This was my first time using Turo to rent a vehicle, and the experience was definitely different from the traditional rental car process. Pickup was done from an airport Extended Stay parking lot, and the vehicle was left unlocked with a lockbox in the glove box containing the key and parking ticket. The app made the process easy to follow, but it was a new experience for me compared to walking up to a rental counter.

When I arrived, I was surprised to find that the interior of the car was fairly dirty and had quite a bit of sand inside. I also noticed the fuel tank was only about 3/4 full instead of full. Since this was my first Turo rental, I wasn’t sure at first if that was normal, but I quickly realized it was not. I took photos, documented everything through the app, and notified the host.

To their credit, the host responded promptly, apologized, and explained that they had been told the vehicle had been professionally cleaned and that the fuel had been topped off. Unfortunately, neither of those things had happened, but they handled it well. They offered a way for me to get the car cleaned and told me I could return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel it had when I picked it up. That was a fair and reasonable solution, and I appreciated their quick response. I did not end up having time to get the car cleaned, but I appreciated that they gave me the option.

About an hour into my trip on the freeway, the oil light came on. I immediately pulled over, checked the dipstick, and found that the oil was very low. I noticed there was oil in the trunk near the spare tire, but it was not the correct type for the vehicle. I contacted the host through the app, and they responded quickly again, asking me to add the correct oil and letting me know they would reimburse me for the cost.

The drop off process was convenient, quick, and easy to navigate through the app. Overall, despite the issues with cleanliness, fuel, and oil, I still had a positive experience. I am rating this five stars because I understand that things can happen and miscommunications can occur. What matters most to me is how those issues are handled, and the host responded promptly, politely, and professionally each time.

I have rented many cars over the years for both business and leisure, and occasional issues can come up with any rental company or rental process. The difference is how the agency or host responds. In this case, the host handled everything well, and I would be happy to rent from them again hence the 5 star rating.

everything thing was good except for for the $52parking ticket I had to pay which they offered to reimburse $25 dollars of that but typically, parking tickets usually are anywhere between $3- $10 ten dollars for a parking ticket from airport.
