I rented this vehicle because I had just been rear-ended and suddenly needed transportation while my own car was in the shop. I was already dealing with the stress and inconvenience of an accident, and I chose this particular rental because the location was convenient and the positive reviews made me feel confident I was making a good choice.

Had I known what I was actually getting, I would have gone through a traditional rental company and, for what I ultimately paid, could have rented a significantly nicer — even luxury-level — vehicle instead.

I paid $461.63 for five days. Sean tried to dismiss this as essentially a “$40/day rental,” which is interesting considering the receipt literally shows $61/day before Turo’s fees, protection and taxes were even added.

For nearly $500, I wasn’t expecting the Ritz-Carlton on wheels. I was expecting a reasonably clean Toyota Corolla that didn’t smell overwhelmingly like smoke and weed and wasn’t handed over with stained seats and a dirty backseat.

Apparently that was an unreasonable expectation.

When I contacted Sean about the condition, rather than simply acknowledging it, he called my message “ridiculous,” pointed to his positive reviews as though other people’s experiences somehow erased mine, and told me I was welcome to leave a negative review if it would give me “some sort of justice.”

He also emphasized that there were “literally zero issues” preventing the car from providing transportation while mine was in the shop.

Correct. The car moved.

I wasn’t disputing its ability to drive. I was questioning why a paying customer was handed a dirty vehicle that smelled like smoke and weed — especially when the listing and photos gave me every reason to expect otherwise.

Sean also acknowledged that the vehicle had just been returned before my trip. That makes the condition I received it in even more frustrating. I documented everything immediately at pickup with timestamped photos, and the condition absolutely did not match what I believed I was renting based on the photos presented.

Being in an accident already left me scrambling for transportation. The last thing I needed was to spend nearly $500 only to get into a filthy, foul-smelling car and then be spoken to like I was the problem for expecting it to be clean.

A vehicle being mechanically capable of getting from Point A to Point B is a pretty low bar for a rental business. Cleanliness, accurate representation and basic professionalism shouldn’t be considered luxury upgrades.

And when a customer brings legitimate concerns to you, calling them “ridiculous” and sarcastically inviting them to leave a review for “justice” tells future renters plenty about how problems will be handled.

I certainly got my answer.

If you want a clown show, this would be your guy.

Sean was great with our situation with a sick child in the hospital needing an extra day!

Sean was an amazing host! The communication was incredibly clear, detailed, and professional from start to finish. Finding the car and accessing the lockbox was completely hassle-free thanks to the precise location details and GPS landmarks provided. The Toyota Corolla Hybrid was spotless, fuel-efficient, and ran perfectly. Returning the car was just as smooth, especially with the convenient, complimentary car wash access nearby. I highly recommend booking with Sean and would absolutely rent from him again!
