This review contains only factual information and should serve as a warning for those who read it. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS HOST. On February 20th I rented a 2018 Chevy Malibu with 127,400 miles on it. Within seconds of starting the car at the pickup location, a warning light appeared on the dashboard stating, "Reduced Engine Power". This is an indication of an issue with the electronic control unit of the car. I snapped a photo and sent it to the host via the Turo app. The host dismissed the warning, calling it "normal" and said not to worry about it. Two days into my trip, the media screen began to flicker - it would work and then stop working intermittently. Immediately I contacted the host. He did not respond. Upon leaving the car at the end of my rental period, I took a photo of the screen and submitted it via the Turo app. There was no physical damage to the screen. Certainly, the guest cannot be held responsible for an electronic issue to the screen, especially one that the host knew existed upon pickup. The host immediately submitted a damage report claiming I broke the screen. He also submitted an invoice for the charge he received upon exiting the airport parking lot with his car. Turo's guidelines explicitly state the host cannot charge the guest for this, and within 10 minutes of disputing the invoice, Turo canceled it and I did not have to pay. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. I submitted the photo evidence and screenshots of the conversations with the host demonstrating that the host knew about the pre-existing mechanical/electrical issue, dismissed it, and there was no physical damage caused to the screen. The host took his car to get TWO quotes and submitted both of those as claimed damage to Turo - one was for a repair to the car's dashboard, and one was for an entirely new media screen. I had to repeatedly email Turo and prove that the dashboard issue happened upon check-in and was dismissed as normal by the host. However, Turo still held me responsible for the screen replacement, claiming damage, even though the photos clearly show no physical damage to it. The car clearly has electrical issues, thus the reason the screen malfunctioned. It is well documented that Turo usually sides with the host in these types of claims. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS HOST. Unfortunately, I cannot attach photos or screenshots of the conversations with the host here, but rest assured I have all of this documented.
We take guest feedback seriously; however, this review is inaccurate and retaliatory. The vehicle was inspected before and after the trip, and the media screen damage occurred during the renter’s reservation. All supporting evidence was submitted to Turo, and after reviewing the case, Turo determined the claim was valid and approved the screen replacement. We work hard to maintain our vehicles and handle all claims through Turo’s official process to ensure fairness
