Clean car, great host, nice enough to drop be off at the train station at the end of the journey.

The host was friendly and communication was good, but our experience with the car itself was unfortunately terrible. The check engine light was already on at pickup, and with our trip plans already set, we had no choice but to proceed.
On the drive back, one tire blew out due to significant wear, and a mechanic had to replace it. About an hour later, a second tire blew out on the freeway. We had to pay for our own tow and an overnight hotel stay. The mechanic at the second tire shop also found a third tire with visible tears and exposed metal, on the verge of failing. In total, we had to pay for three new tires.
The host did reimburse us for half of that cost, which we appreciated, but the car shouldn’t have been rented out in this condition. I don’t like leaving a critical review, but safety issues like these need to be flagged for future renters.
