The car’s tire went flat on us after a few hours on the road. The parking break was broken, so in changing the tire the car rolled, trapping the jack underneath and necessitating professional, expensive roadside assistance. I awoke at 6 am the following morning to purchase a replacement tire (because the journey home on the spare would be both dangerously outside the tire’s safety specification and slow because you cannot drive over 50 on a spare). Upon investigation, the tire professionals informed me that the flat was a result of dangerous welding that the owner had done on the aluminum rims to cheaply “fix” some other issue (aluminum should not be welded). The welds had cracked and punctured the tire. The rim was so badly damaged that they could not fit a tire to it, and said that even with the risks, it would be better to use the spare. They could not replace the rim because it is a foreign car with uncommon parts. I incurred cost here too. At this point there has been no reimbursement for my time, safety, or expense. I would not recommend renting this car, and indeed I would not recommend using Turo after this experience.

While the guest’s experience with a flat tire during the trip was regrettable, please note that no roadside assistance was requested, no claim was filed, and no receipts were submitted; consequently, Turo could not process a reimbursement for the alleged expenses.
Following this trip, the vehicle has been serviced with new wheels and tires.

This damage occurred during your rental period and may have resulted from an impact, such as encountering a pothole while driving. Furthermore, we did not receive any communication from you regarding this issue. Additionally, you returned the vehicle with a flat tire, and we were not notified of this condition.
