This was my first experience with Turo, and it was fantastic. It was great to have a car waiting for me at the airport at midnight. I had already downloaded the app, so I was able to get right in the car and go to my destination. The self-driving feature was amazing and gave me a peek into the future of driving. FSD is not perfect, though, so you will need to pay attention. It got into the wrong lane once when it was supposed to turn and missed a turn once. Also, it had trouble maintaining the proper speed, especially the farther I got from Corpus Christi, but it was easy enough to increase the speed. Ruslan was an excellent host, sending me videos to watch before my rental so I would be familiar with driving a Tesla (it was my first time). He was also quick to respond with questions. The car came with a J1772-to-NACS Vehicle adapter (Level 2), so if your destination has a charger, you should be set. If not, be aware of where the Tesla Superchargers (or other NACS Level 3 chargers) are located. The car did not come with a Level 1 or 2 portable charger. While I thought I had linked my credit card in the Tesla app, my refueling charges were sent to Ruslan, and I needed to reimburse him after my rental ended. Finally, Sentry mode and cabin conditioning mode were turned on when I got the car, and the cabin conditioning mode in particular uses power. If you plan on having your rental sit, realize that these modes will use up some of the range. While renting a gas-powered car would have been easier in some ways, the Tesla was perfect for me, coming in at midnight. Plus, it was worth it for just the FSD capability.
