Ready to collect your car rental? Phoenix-Mesa Airport is easy to navigate. Once you've landed and grabbed your things from baggage claim, check your Turo app for the exact location of your rental vehicle. You'll find your vehicle parked it in one of the approved Daily, Economy, or Hourly lots, ready for you to collect. For in-person handoffs, meet your host at the car-sharing curb and be on your way in under five minutes.
Once you confirm your booking, everything you need will be ready in your Turo app. You'll find clear instructions on where to collect and return the car. Closer to the start of your trip, you can also share your location in the app — handy if you've arranged to meet at the car-sharing curb for an in-person handoff. If your plans shift or questions pop up, messaging through the app keeps you connected.
Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport requires Turo to collect a fee for each trip that begins or ends there. Don't worry, this goes straight to the airport and isn't marked up at all. And if your host requires you to cover the cost of a parking fee to enter or exit a lot, they're required to disclose that upfront in the vehicle listing before you book. There are no surprises here, just clear pricing so you know exactly what's covered before your keys are even in hand.
Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.
Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.
Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for native wildlife like quail darting across the path or the occasional Gila monster soaking up the sun. There are also family-friendly walks, shaded picnic spots under mesquite trees, and stargazing programs that make the most of Arizona's famously clear skies.

Mesa is made for driving. Wide streets, scenic desert highways, and plenty of parking mean having a car makes exploring simple and way more enjoyable. Whether you're chasing sunsets or bouncing between towns, here's what to know before you hit the road in your rental car.
Touch down in Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA), grab your bags, and get ready to go! You can head to one of the approved Daily, Economy, or Hourly lots where your rental car will be ready and waiting. Just check your Turo app for instructions from your host to find exactly where the car is located, grab the keys, and head out. If you're meeting your host in person to pick up your car, meet your host at the car-sharing curb to collect your rental car before hitting the open road. It's that simple, and it's all done without any airport car rental counter hassle required.
When it's time to head home, returning your car is as easy as pie — or in this case, a Sonoran hot dog. Bring your car back to the agreed drop-off point in one of the Daily, Economy, or Hourly lots, pull a ticket, park, lock up, and use Turo messaging in the app to let your host know exactly where you've left the car and the parking ticket, and you're good to go. With everything sorted in-app, you'll be homebound in no time at all.
The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is only about 20 miles southeast of downtown Mesa. Depending on traffic, that's usually about a smooth 30-minute drive — close enough for you to get from baggage claim to brunch without breaking a sweat.
Driving in Mesa is easy, but there are a few local quirks worth knowing before you hit the road. Around town, speed limits usually sit at around 25 miles per hour (mph), while highways give you a little more leeway with limits rising to about 65 mph. Just make sure to watch for lower limits around schools, construction, and neighborhood streets because they can change often.
Arizona is serious about keeping its roads hands-free. If you're using your phone for directions, make sure it's mounted because getting caught with it in hand will land you a hefty fine.
As for desert weather? Expect plenty of sunshine, but don't be surprised when nature flips the switch. Summer monsoon storms can roll in fast with heavy rain and turn normally dry areas into no-go zones. If you're out near Usery Mountain or heading into the open desert, be extra cautious since flash flooding can catch anyone off guard — even the locals. Early mornings and evenings are also when wildlife tends to wander, so keep your eyes peeled near trailheads and quieter roads.
No need to stress, parking in Mesa is refreshingly straightforward. There are plenty of metered parking spots downtown, which become free on evenings, weekends, and public holidays. If you're planning to visit the Mesa Arts Center or hop between local breweries like 12 West Brewing, look for one of the many garages around Main Street and Center Street, which make it easy to explore. If you're planning outdoor adventures further out, parking is often free, but it always pays to arrive early, especially on the weekends.
Nope, you're all clear! Mesa and the entirety of Arizona are toll-free, so you can road trip, detour, and explore without worrying about extra costs or toll transponders.
You won't have to search far to find a place to top up your tank or battery. Major roads like University Drive, Baseline Road, and Stapley Drive are lined with gas stations, so fueling up before a day trip is easy. Driving electric? You're covered, too. EV chargers are conveniently dotted along Country Club Drive, Dobson Road, and around the Mesa Amphitheatre, so staying powered up between stops is no problem.
Absolutely. Renting a car is a must if you want to make the most of your trip in Mesa and experience its lakeside escapes, outdoor adventure spots, and sprawling desert parks. A car rental makes it easy to hop between trailheads, art galleries, and day trips without having to keep an eye on the time or cramming into expensive rideshares. When every corner of the Sonoran Desert is within reach, having your own car turns a good trip into a great one.
Mesa's wide roads and surrounding landscapes call for a wide variety of rental vehicles, and you'll have plenty to choose from on Turo. Whether you need a practical city car, something fit for the desert, or a touch of luxury for a special trip, there's something to suit every kind of traveler.
