5 Stars - I recommend renting if you are comfortable with a normal everyday car.
Picking up or dropping off your car rental at Reno Airport (RNO) is as smooth as the Tahoe breeze. Reserved stalls in the Overflow/Blue parking lot are your go-to spot. Your host will provide all the details you need via the Turo app. For in-person pickups, head to the Rideshare loading zone outside Door D by Baggage Claim. Either way, you’ll be hitting the road in no time.
The key to a seamless Reno Tahoe Airport car rental experience? Keeping in touch with your Turo host. Use the Turo app to confirm pickup and return details or share your location to coordinate effortlessly. Whether it’s finding the reserved parking stall or managing a last-minute change, open communication ensures your trip starts and ends without a hitch.
At RNO, parking and airport fees may apply, depending on your host’s arrangement. Turo collects a standard airport fee for vehicle deliveries at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, but any additional parking fees for pickup or return are disclosed in the listing. Don’t forget to leave the parking ticket provided by your host in the vehicle during return — it’s your pass to a hassle-free drop-off.
Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Rent the perfect carA short drive from Reno, Lake Tahoe is a stunning natural wonder. With its crystal-clear waters and majestic mountains, it's a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. From downtown Reno's flashing lights to Lake Tahoe's picturesque shores, rental cars are your ticket to exploring the wonders of the "Biggest Little City" and beyond. With Turo, you won't be stuck at airport car rental counters or limited cookie-cutter car rental options. Unlike an old-school rental car company, renting through Turo means you can cruise in a vehicle that suits your vibe, budget, and itinerary. Here’s how to make your Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) car rental experience as smooth as a Tahoe shoreline.
Turo’s streamlined process makes airport pickups at RNO effortless. Once your booking is confirmed, your host will coordinate a pickup from one of the designated Overflow/Blue parking lot spots, or an in-person handoff at the Rideshare loading zone.
Just exit baggage claim, follow the airport signs, and meet your host in person. No rental counter queues or complicated rental agreements here — just grab the keys and start your adventure.
Returning your car is equally hassle-free. Park the vehicle in one of the three "Peer to Peer Carsharing" spots in the Overflow/Blue parking lot (they're marked in red). Use Turo messaging to confirm the exact drop-off location with your host. Whether you’re dropping off a sports car or a family-friendly SUV, rest assured the process is seamless.
RNO is a breezy 15-minute drive from downtown Reno — just 5 miles of open road separating you from all the action. With a premium luxury sedan or an electric luxury SUV, you’ll glide into the city with plenty of time to check out the Truckee Riverwalk or snag a photo under the Reno Arch.
In Reno, driving is pretty straightforward, but there are a few quirks. Keep to the right-hand side (like everywhere in the US), stick to the 65 mph speed limit on highways (lower in urban areas), and beware of wildlife near Lake Tahoe. Reno’s dry climate and well-maintained roads make for smooth cruising, but watch out for icy conditions in winter. Oh, and never text while driving — it’s a big no-no.
Parking in Reno is smooth and stress-free. Downtown Reno has metered parking, and the city’s public garages like the El Dorado Parking Garage on 325 N Sierra St, or the Liberty Parking Garage on 50 W Liberty St offer reasonable rates.
If you’re visiting South Lake Tahoe, free parking is common near trailheads and public beaches. Whether you’re navigating city streets or scenic overlooks, your rental car (whether it's a luxury SUV or full-size luxury sedan) will find a home.
Good news: Reno doesn’t believe in nickel-and-diming drivers. There are no toll roads in the area, so your trip to Lake Tahoe or Carson City won’t come with surprise fees. Just follow the clear road signs, and enjoy the journey.
You’ll find plenty of petrol stations scattered throughout Reno and near RNO. For EV drivers, charging stations are available at Meadowood Mall, several hotels, and even some downtown parking garages. Whether you’re cruising in a classic car or a hybrid SUV, powering up is a breeze.
Absolutely. Public transport options are limited, and if you want to experience all that Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Napa Valley have to offer, a car is essential. Renting a car in Reno lets you explore at your own pace, skip waiting for buses, and reach those hidden gems off the beaten path.
Choose from a sedan like a Tesla Model 3 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class, an SUV like a Tesla Model X or Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, or even a Ford Mustang Mach-E. Popular car classes rented on Turo include trucks, vans, EVs and everything in between — perfect for cruising the Truckee River or heading to the slopes. With Turo, whatever your needs, there’s a car to match your Reno itinerary.
The cost of car rental in Reno can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Reno, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.
