Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Bay Area, San Francisco is one of America's most beloved tourist cities. There are abundant things to see and do, from chowing down on seafood at Fisherman's Wharf to sprawling lazily in the sunshine at Golden Gate Park – and to make sure you can see it all, nothing beats the freedom of your own set of wheels. When it comes to car rental, San Francisco International Airport is the perfect pickup and drop-off spot, whether you're flying in for the weekend or spending a little longer uncovering all the Bay Area has to offer.
On Turo, renting a car at SFO is easy. Browse cars online, confirm your pickup location, book your car, and get on the road sooner. With pickup locations at airports across the US, you'll be able to find the perfect car for whatever you have planned.

Enter a date and airport location in San Francisco, CA (or beyond), filter to find the best car for you, and read reviews from previous renters.

Rent a car for pickup at the airport, or opt for delivery to various destinations, including airports, train stations, and hotels.

Your host sends you pickup details, and you’re all set to hit the roads of San Francisco, CA! If you have questions, you can easily chat with your host or contact support.
Eric and Valerie have made it impossible for me to ever rent from one of the big international car rental companies again. This was my third rental with them and they are everything the big guys are not. They are friendly, efficient, customer focused are most importantly really easy to deal with. Their cars are great as well.
The host, the car, and the whole Turo experience was 10/10. The price was fantastic and the whole experience was seamless. We had weird hours we wanted to leave and return the car that would not have worked with a car rental agency, but Angel and Turo made the whole process easy and seamless. I’m a bigger guy so I was worried about how comfortable the car would be and it was perfect. The great ride made our whole vacation possible and comfortable. I really appreciated the vehicles safety features too!
The Nissan Altima was great. Good mpg, clean, lots of power, great response time. The car needed to be picked up at an off site location called, economy car rental at 2367 India street. A proximity 2 1/2 miles from the airport. You will need to find a ride to their location. The price of taxi will be $30, however we took the free shuttle to the car rental center then walked 20 minutes the rest of the way. The team at this location did a great job, fast, friendly, polite, and after returning they able to offer a ride back to the airport. We would rent this Altima again, and I would recommend this vehicle.

Easy pick up and drop off. Car was very clean inside. A/C blows super cold even when it's 100 degrees out!! The windows are not tinted so I suggest bringing your own sun shades if you are going to be parked anywhere but the shade in the summer. Luckily I had those and that made my trip much better. The flip down visors do have the extenders to help block sun while driving thankfully. Charging prices are comparable to current gas prices - about $45 to get 250 miles of charge over a few sessions which is the same as I get from a full tank in my Toyota Yaris. This car DOES have the CHAdeMO fast charge input so it's 30-50 seconds per mile to charge depending on the fast charger & whether you're running the car (AC/radio) or it's fully off. Radio speakers were a little blown out so I had to adjust some settings to listen to my audiobooks but it was easy to do. I had no problem driving from the pickup spot to Kyle, then to the airport, and back into town without needing a charge which was about 90 miles, mostly highway. Just like any Turo rental make sure to take your own photos at pickup and drop off since scratches and such aren't usually documented after every drive by the car owners which seems standard in my experience. Overall a great deal, best price in town especially for a last minute rental. I requested the rental at 9pm on a Tuesday after my personal car died and was able to get this the next morning with no issue. Will definitely keep them in mind when I need a rental near by. Thanks again!

First, I contemplated leaving a 4 star review for a few reasons. However, the prompt response to the issue with the original vehicle reserved, partly due to luck that someone happened to be onsite with the car, and the flexibility with returning the vehicle without requiring washing and vacuuming is deserving of some grace. The price for 5 day/4 night rental was fantastic, around $150 total. I certainly didn't expect a car in pristine shape for the cost. This car is a part of a Turo "rental company" fleet. It seems like a company that buys cheap, used cars to rent out. There are 12-15 cars parked behind a strip mall 8-10ish minutes from the airport in an area I was glad we were picking up and dropping off midday rather than the evening. The hybrid we originally reserved had stained seats and a lot of cosmetic wear. One tire looked like it was on a spare wheel and didn't have a lot of life left, honestly. A lot of the roads in San Diego aren't exactly in great shape, I was concerned about getting a flat. When we turned the car on to leave we immediately got check engine lights and a "pull over immediately" message. Fortunately, someone with the "rental company" was on site and qas able to quickly switched cars for us. It wasn't a hybrid, though. We didn't plan on a lot of driving, but originally opted for a hybrid to save money since we had two days of freeway driving. We definitely spent more on gas then originally planned. If there wasn't someone available onsite to help, it could have been a much longer ordeal which is a terrible way to start a vacation. Communication day of pick up felt slow with the owner. I didn't think to look back to the 2 month old message about how to find the car. I received a message from Turo saying we'd be sent details the day before the trip. I never got that confirmation text or measage the day before or day of pick up from the actual rental owner. When I first reached out to the rental company through the turo app to find the car at pick up time, I didn't get a response. I finally found a way to text someone about 20 minutes later. We did get a pretty quick response that way, but it's frustrating to be in a random parking lot messaging through an app and not get a response. The Honda interior is definitely cleaner than the hybrid we reserved, but the exterior, not so much. Its been side swiped and has a lot of sun damage. The TPMS light was on the whole time, but the actual tire pressure was fine. There was also a rattle and grinding noise when accelerating from a stop or on a hill, but it didn't cause an issue. The car drives fine for a 14-15 year old car, it's just a little noisy and you feel all the bumps on the road. I understand with the cheaper cost of renting through Turo amd choosing a 12-15 year old car, I'm not getting a newer car like I would with a standard rental company or paying more for a newer car. That said, with my last few Turo rentals, it feels a lot of these Turo "rental companies" aren't checking their cars or doing much more than standard maintenance as frequently as they should when they have over 150,000 miles on them. The confirmation message also suggested the cars are kept in great shape. These cars were not in great shape by any stretch of the imagination. No one wants to be on vacation and have their car break down or even be worried that the car they're driving is gonna get a flat or break down.

I love the rental cars from Mohammed. He and his staff is friendly and helpful. The cars are small and good at gas. I would suggest anyone to rent a car with Mohammed.

I had an excellent experience renting from this host and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and smooth car rental experience. The vehicle was extremely clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described in the listing. Communication was outstanding from start to finish. The host was friendly, professional, responsive, and made both pickup and drop-off incredibly easy and convenient. The car drove perfectly and made my trip stress-free and enjoyable. It’s clear the host takes great care of both their vehicles and their customers. I truly appreciated the attention to detail and overall professionalism throughout the rental process. I would absolutely rent from this host again in the future and highly recommend them to others looking for a top-quality rental experience.
Rented this last minute because my Mom didn't tell me until the day before my trip that she had no car. Was pretty easy for the most part. Finding the shuttle at the airport for the car rental area, was a little difficult for me. But you can always ask someone at the airport. Then I followed Turo given directions to the car. It's outside of the rental area but still easy to find because the lot is literally labeled "Turo." As for the car, I DID NOT MIND these "problems" with the car at all, but you should be informed that the car: Cons - Smelled INTENSELY LIKE WEED. I tried to spray it with multiple Febreze, etc. It helped but it still stinks a bit. - The car door lock was extremely finicky, you must PRESS AND HOLD the button it seems. - Crumbs in the backseat (no big deal) - Not sure but seems like occasional light scraping sound sometimes when driving around on normal road. - Not a problem per se, but just know the car has quite a bit of scratches compared to other Turo rentals. Just be sure to document as much as you can. Pros - Good Value for the price - ICE COLD A/C. (Although I visited in winter, so idk how it holds up to the Vegas heat, but again better than my childhood cars with zero A/C) - Pretty quiet car overall (I mention the scrape for the owner to consider getting it checked out, but nothing to make you feel embarrassed while driving.) Overall, I grew up poor, and this car was much better than most of the ones of my childhood, so I didn't mind at all. Just tried my best to document them that's all. But anyone renting who these things might bother should be aware of it. Anyways, thank you so much Nick!!! I would definitely rent again!

The host was excellent throughout the whole process. Communication was very good, he was friendly and easy to deal with, and he made the whole car rental process simple and stress-free. Everything was straightforward from start to finish, and I would definitely rent from him again.

Easy pickup and drop off, saved us when the car rental companies ran out of cars at the airport.

Andre was great, the car was somewhat still dirty, dust, dirt, what appeared to be cigarette ashes, animal hair, sticky spills around the cup holders in the center console and the door panels. Crumbs and dust/dirt left in the door handles and cubby's. In the center console cup holders and cubbys. On the top of the dashboard, around the steering column and gauges. Sticky dusty windows and stereo buttons. Rear view mirror had sticky smudges on it. All the windows inside were dusty and dirty with smudges and idk what really.. the car had a bad smell of animals like dogs, and faint cigarette smell.. however as I got further into my trip I got used to it and wasn't bothered by it anymore. A lot of these issues honestly didn't bother me very much. I was more worried of being blamed for them when I returned the car. Unfortunately I was put behind schedule due to a passenger side headlight and passenger side tail light being burned out. However upon informing andre, he was very quick with a solution to take the car to valvoline where they were able to repair the lights before I left for my trip. If I wasn't already running late It wouldn't of bothered me. Andre was also very quick to reimburse me the whole price of the repairs immediately upon me sending him the receipt of the work.. I very much appreciated that! I also appreciate that instead of canceling my trip Andre worked out a way to have the lights fixed with no trouble of my own. He was always quick to respond to all of my very long messages full of questions. This is my first time using turo and I did not know the ins and outs of the rental process. He was able to guide me threw every step all while being polite and keeping his patience with me! Hah. I ended up running behind schedule on my way back as well and was surprised how simple and easy it was to change the return time from noon to after 9 p.m. all without adding any fees to my bill! That was very helpful of andre to allow me to do. I also ended up being a little passed my return time due to vacuuming the car and dusting everything to my best ability. So that andre wouldn't have to deal with someone else's mess and the next person who rents the vehicle will not have to worry about it either. I had no issues with doing that for him after he was so helpful with me! The vehicle was a little different then what im used to. But in no time I settled in with the car and had a very enjoyable trip! I would forsure rent another vehicle from andre in the future due to how well he accommodated me on this trip. Even tho the car had the mess, that was not andre, But left over from previous renters. He even made sure to have a snow brush and ice scraper in the car for me. But unfortunately the previous renters also took that with them. Im sure there will be a new one for the next person who rents the car because thats how much andre cares about his customers !! 5 stars for andre !!! Whoever returned his vehicle like that should be ashamed and think about how it would feel if someone treated your things the same way! Once again THANK YOU andre! I will reach out to you next time I need to rent a car.. I appreciate all your help thru the process! I appreciate your professionalism and quick responses to all my questions and thank you for making sure the vehicle was 100% good to go for me before I left and wouldn't of been able to fix it. 5 of 5 stars for andre !!

My credit card wasn’t working for some odd reason and rental companies wouldn’t let me rent a car so I booked this Turo last minute and it was a reasonable price for five days. I will do it again when I come back to Vancouver in August.
Excellent 1st experience using Turo. The host was very responsive and timely. The vehicle was in great condition and rode very well. The price was a good deal and would definitely use this again as opposed to a major car rental facility. It was a simple process overall and very straightforward.

The host, Tadeh was exceptional. The very best in customer service. I had the best experience with renting from Tadeh. Everything was so easy; Tadeh was super accommodating, very kind, he went way above and beyond what I reasonably expected. Tadeh is a thousand times better than AVIS, HERTZ, Enterprise, Thrifty, Budget, Dollar, and all the major car rental. Tadeh gave me the best deal; the major car rentals do not come close; I saved a lot of money. The car was great, very good on the gas mileage; and very clean. Tadeh made sure pick-up location was very convenient for me, Tadeh drove the car to where I was; it’s the best. Tadeh also picked up the car when I was done and again made sure it was convenient for me. I am very grateful for this. Once I return from my deployment, absolutely renting from Tadeh again; will be telling all my friends and colleagues. This is just amazing customer service. I am very appreciative for everything. THANK YOU
Kiara had great communication throughout the rental process , the car was amazing , clean and comfortable. Rental was a great price as well. I'll be happy to rent from Kiara again in the future.

Good Morning 🌞 Yall! This Car was Amazing! I was able to go see my older Son's College Graduation during the week. The Car rental process was amazing and an easy process. I would definitely rent this Car again!!
“10/10 experience. I rented the car for a week and the total came out to around $400, which was an amazing price for a brand new 2026 vehicle. The entire process was incredibly easy from start to finish. Pickup and drop-off were smooth and convenient, and I loved that I didn’t have to physically meet or talk to anyone. The key was waiting in a lockbox by the window, which honestly made the experience even better for me. The car itself was spotless, smelled clean, and drove perfectly. It was also amazing on gas — I drove all the way through Saturday and the tank was only halfway. The host responded quickly to messages and was super helpful the entire time. Overall, this was one of the easiest and best rental experiences I’ve had. I would absolutely rent from them again and honestly would choose this over Enterprise or Hertz any day
When picking up your car rental, San Francisco Airport has two approved areas for Turo guests — International Garages A and G. These are located along the Airport Access Road at the front of the airport, by the Grand Hyatt Hotel. When you first fly into San Francisco Airport, you can access these garages via the AirTrain airport shuttle, which connects all terminals. Then, when you're dropping your car rental off on your way out of SFO, forgo the busy rental car center and simply leave the vehicle for your host in either of these garages, before taking the AirTrain back to your departure terminal.
Before you fly into San Francisco International Airport (SFO), head to the Turo app for everything you need to know about exactly where your host will meet you or leave your rental car. Exit the parking lot with the parking ticket left by your host. Then, when it's farewell to Frisco, coordinate your car rental return the same way you did your pickup — by chatting with your host before you depart from San Francisco Airport.
When you reserve a car on Turo at San Francisco International Airport, the total cost of your booking will automatically include an airport fee. We're required to collect and remit this fee to the airport to facilitate rental car return and pickup. Parking fees at San Francisco International Airport are not covered by Turo — if your host requires you to cover this cost, they must let you know in their Turo vehicle listing. When you return your car to San Francisco Airport, you'll need to take a parking ticket and leave it in your car rental so your host can leave the parking garage.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

Midsize sport luxury sedans or premium luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz EQE, full-size luxury SUVs including the Volkswagen Taos, and people movers like the Honda Odyssey make up just a fraction of the vehicles available on Turo.
Fly into San Francisco Airport, grab your luggage from baggage claim, and bypass the car rental center — instead, your new work vehicle will be ready and waiting for you. Glittering above the San Francisco Bay, you'll spot one of the world's most legendary landmarks — the Golden Gate Bridge in all its glory. This 746-foot-tall suspension bridge cuts a striking path through the Northern California fog during the day and glows crimson at night, making it a beautiful sight at all times. Consider walking the 1.7-mile-long bridge from the north side to the south, then venturing further down to other hotspots like the Walt Disney Family Museum, the Painted Ladies, and Golden Gate Park.
San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood is the iconic home of touristic giants like Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, the Cannery, Madame Tussauds, and more. Between these must-visit attractions, you'll find seafood restaurants galore serving up hot clam chowder, cioppino, and crab legs amongst other culinary faves. Stroll from pier to pier, enjoying the sights, popping into shops, soaking in the seaside air, and, of course, eating anything that takes your fancy.
Towering 922 feet above the city, Twin Peaks is a popular lookout spot that boasts spectacular 180-degree views of San Francisco. With hiking trails to traverse, wildlife to observe, and breathtaking scenery to enjoy, this is an unmissable stop on your SF itinerary. Drive up to Twin Peaks in your rental car and hike around the park, or walk the whole way up in approximately two hours, depending on your fitness level.
While San Francisco has a great public transport infrastructure, nothing beats the freedom of exploring the beautiful Bay Area in a reliable vehicle of your choice. Car rental at San Francisco International Airport lets you jump straight into the driver's seat and cruise through well-known neighborhoods, from Haight-Ashbury to the Embarcadero, with ease. Keep these top car rental tips in mind during your time in San Francisco.
Skip the SFO rental car center and stroll straight from your gate to your vehicle with Turo. Before your flight, you'll need to refer to the Turo app to confirm a pickup location. San Francisco International Airport has two approved pickup locations — International Garages A and G. Follow airport signs to the AirTrain, ride it to retrieve your vehicle, and exit the parking lot using the ticket provided by your host to start exploring SF.
Refer to the Turo app in the days before your flight out of San Francisco International Airport to confirm whether your rental car return is at either International Garage A or G. Enter the parking lot in your car rental and take a parking ticket. Leave the ticket in the vehicle for your host so they can exit safely.
Depending on the time of day, the trip from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to the Financial District, the heart of San Francisco's CBD, can take between 20 to 55 minutes by car. This part of the city is also close to the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and other major tourist attractions. If you're headed to South San Francisco (AKA South City), the drive to its downtown area is just 10 to 20 minutes by car.
San Francisco is a busy city with lots of cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and even cable cars to navigate. To ensure your safety and that of others while driving in San Francisco, you must observe common road rules, including speed limits and street signs, always wearing a seatbelt, and not using your phone while driving.
In San Francisco, speed limits are 15 miles per hour (mph) in school zones, 20-30 mph on residential roads and in business districts, 45 mph on highways, and 50-65 mph on interstate freeways.
San Francisco is one of the many American cities with an extensive cable car (tram or streetcar) network. While driving in San Francisco, you must not pass cable cars to the left, nor when their doors are open to let passengers off. Historically, San Francisco is known for its windy, hilly, and narrow roads, which have rendered the city with many one-way streets and unique intersections. Always pay attention to road signs, drive in the correct direction, and stay alert while driving in San Francisco.
Downtown San Francisco has a wide range of parking garages and metered street parking spaces to choose from but keep in mind that your options will be affected by price and availability during busy times. There are public garages dotted throughout the city, with a big concentration around Union Square, so if this is convenient, it presents a good location to leave your vehicle while you explore on foot.
Metered street parking is available both in the center of San Francisco and its outer neighborhoods and outside of peak hours, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a spot.
Yes, there are eight toll bridges in San Francisco, as well as a handful of tolled express lanes. It's important to know where they're located before you start journeying in your rental car.
The toll bridges in San Francisco are Antioch Bridge (State Route [SR] 160),
Benicia-Martinez Bridge (I-680),
Carquinez Bridge (I-80),
Dumbarton Bridge (SR 84),
Golden Gate Bridge (SR 1 / US 101) [Southbound only],
Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580),
San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (I-80), and
San Mateo-Hayward Bridge (SR 92).
You'll also pay a toll if you use the express lanes on the I-580, I-680 Contra Costa, I-680 Sunol, I-880, and US 101.
A big city like San Francisco has to be well-equipped with all the amenities, and that includes gas stations and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Although your Turo rental car will be waiting for you with a full tank of gas, you'll spot quite a few gas stations as you leave San Francisco International Airport (SFO) along El Camino Real.
Most outer-city suburbs in the San Francisco area boast a handful of gas stations to choose from. As you head further into the city, you'll notice your options dwindle a bit, but don't worry — in SF, it's unlikely you'll ever be more than a mile from a gas station.
When it comes to juicing up your electric luxury SUV or sedan, you'll find EV charging stations from ChargePoint, EVgo, Blink, Shell, and more all over the city. The Financial District and its surrounding areas are packed with EV chargers — there are at least 20 within a mile of the Ferry Building downtown.
Conveniently, there's also an electric vehicle charging station located in both International Garage A and International Garage G at San Francisco International Airport, where you'll pick up and drop off your Turo rental car. Don't forget to give your rental car a quick charge before you return it to one of our approved airport locations and your host!
While a rental car isn't always necessary for San Francisco due to the city's fantastic public transport infrastructure, it's definitely recommended if you want to travel around without limits or journey outside of the city center. Pick up your Turo rental car at San Francisco International Airport and you'll be well on your way to seeing the many sights this bustling city and the wider Bay Area are known for.
San Francisco is home to people from all walks of life, so it's no wonder that the cars on offer in this bustling slice of the Bay Area are just as diverse.
You might select an eco-friendly option like an electric luxury SUV or full-size elite electric sedan, such as the Tesla Model 3, Ford Mustang Mach-E, or Lucid Air. If you'd prefer a gas rental car, we've got premium luxury SUVs, full-size luxury sedans, 8-passenger vehicles, high-performance sports cars, and a variety of other vehicle classes to choose from on Turo.
Browse a massive selection of makes and models, including the popular Ford Explorer or Toyota RAV-4, the swish Audi Q7 or BMW M4, the sporty Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Corvette, the compact Volkswagen Golf, or the sturdy Land Rover Defender. Organize your car rental at San Francisco Intl Airport to get started.

Turo has agreements and pilot programs in place with a number of airports across the United States, and we’re always working hard to secure arrangements at even more airports to make your transition between air travel and car travel as smooth as possible, no matter what city.
Currently, Turo has agreements with some regional and international airports in at least 24 US states. The group of airports where Turo has airport pickup permits for guests may change, so refer to the link below for an up-to-date list.
List of airport locations* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.
For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site.
When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, physical damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but Turo’s insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to physical damage to a host’s vehicle.
