At Asheville Airport, airport car rental pickups happen in designated parking areas. Once you land, head to the Hourly, Daily, or Shuttle Lots or the Parking Garage and follow the signs to the designated pickup spots. Your host will confirm the exact location of your vehicle through the Turo app, so keep those notifications on for real-time updates. No waiting at traditional car rental counters — just grab the keys and go.
Returning your Turo rental at AVL is just as straightforward. Be sure to remove all personal items and secure the vehicle as instructed by your host.
AVL is a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Asheville, making it easy to pick up your rental car and start exploring. The route is mostly highway, with well-marked signs directing you toward downtown’s bustling arts district, historic landmarks, and culinary hotspots.
Driving through Asheville means winding roads, scenic mountain passes, and plenty of twists and turns. Speed limits range from 25 mph in residential areas to 55 mph on highways, so keep an eye on posted signs. Expect traffic to pick up around the Biltmore Village and downtown during weekends and holiday seasons. And during the winter months, mountain roads can get icy — especially along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Parking in Asheville varies from laid-back to downright packed, depending on where you are. The downtown area is peppered with metered street parking, while parking garages like Rankin Avenue and Wall Street offer affordable rates and EV charging stations. If you’re heading to the Biltmore Estate, expect designated parking areas with plenty of space, though they can fill up quickly during peak tourist seasons.
No! Asheville is blissfully toll-free, so you can cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway and other scenic routes throughout this slice of North Carolina without hitting any toll booths.
Gas stations are plentiful along key thoroughfares like Hendersonville Road and Patton Avenue. If you’re driving an electric vehicle, EV chargers are available at the Asheville Outlets and several public parking garages downtown. The Biltmore Estate also offers EV charging stations, so you can top up while touring the mansion and gardens.
Absolutely. Asheville’s charm lies in its far-flung mountain vistas, historic estates, and quirky roadside attractions — all best explored with the freedom of a rental car. Whether you’re weaving through the Blue Ridge Parkway, checking out Asheville’s breweries, or heading to the River Arts District, a rental car keeps the adventure on your schedule. And with Turo, you can pick a car that matches your style, from electric sedans to rugged SUVs.
On Turo, Asheville’s rental car lineup spans everything from agile compacts like the Nissan Altima to luxe cruisers like the Audi S5, each ready to elevate your mountain drives and downtown explorations. Whether you’re looking for a Subaru Impreza to zip through winding roads, a Dodge Charger for a bit of muscle, or a spacious Jeep Grand Cherokee for a group hike to Pisgah National Forest, you’ll find just the right ride to match your itinerary.
The cost of car rental in Asheville can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Asheville, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
