Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2019

I had an amazing experience renting this car! Honestly, it was easier than any experience I’ve had with the big rental companies. The host was fantastic; very punctual, professional, and easy to work with. The customer service is TOP TIER!! The car itself was very beautiful and well kept. Everything went smoothly from start to finish! This was by far the best car rental experience I’ve had, and I will definitely be renting again. Thank you so much!

The host was very nice. The car drove wonderfully and there were no real issues. There is a shimmy when you initially press the brakes. Gas mileage is great especially with the current price of gas.

Toyota Camry Hybrid 2025

Absolutely phenomenal rental. MsInMotion (Lana) and Michael were fantastic hosts from start to finish. They delivered the car, communicated clearly the entire time, and made everything smooth and easy. The Camry itself was perfect. Clean, comfortable, in tip top shape, and genuinely one of the best highway cars I’ve ever driven. The hybrid mileage was excellent, especially with gas prices being what they are, and the car still had plenty of power when needed. Sport mode was a pleasant surprise too. I honestly cannot rave about this rental enough. It was so good I almost don’t want anyone else driving it before I come back to town, and it may have convinced me to buy a Camry myself. Five stars all the way through. Highly, highly recommend.

Top tips for renting a car in New Orleans

Renting a car in New Orleans gives you the freedom to explore the city and its surrounding areas at your own pace. Here are some top tips to make your car rental experience smooth and enjoyable.

How does airport pickup work at New Orleans International Airport?

You can arrange to collect your rental car from an area near the New Orleans International Airport. Check your Turo app — you'll receive detailed instructions on how to find and access the vehicle from your host.

This seamless process ensures you can land in New Orleans, quickly pick up your rental vehicle and start your journey without any hassle.

How does drop-off work at New Orleans International Airport?

For drop-off, communicate with your host and agree on a suitable return location. It will often be the same location you collected your car from, near the airport. Just make sure you leave enough time before your flight to return the vehicle, complete any required check-out procedures, and handle parking fees if necessary.

How far is New Orleans International Airport from Downtown New Orleans?

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is approximately 15 miles west of Downtown New Orleans. The drive typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes via I-10 E, depending on traffic conditions.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in New Orleans?

In New Orleans, drive on the right side of the road, and always carry your valid driver's license. Speed limits typically range from 25 miles per hour (mph) in residential areas up to 65 mph on highways like I-10.

Be cautious of narrow streets in older parts of the city and watch for pedestrians, especially in tourist areas like the French Quarter. Obey all traffic signals and signs, and be aware of designated bike lanes and public transportation routes. Also, be prepared for occasional heavy rain and the possibility of flooding in low-lying areas.

What is parking like in New Orleans?

New Orleans offers plenty of parking options, particularly in popular areas like the French Quarter on streets like 911 Iberville St and 535 Chartres St, and the Central Business District (CBD). While street parking exists, it’s often metered with time restrictions, so be mindful when choosing this option.

Always check the signage carefully to avoid fines or towing, as regulations can differ. If you’re parking on streets without meters, pay close attention to parking signs. Rules often change between neighborhoods, and some areas have designated "neighborhood-only" parking, which typically allows only two hours of parking during the day unless it’s nighttime.

Many downtown businesses and department stores, like The Shops at Canal Place, offer free or discounted parking when you make a purchase at nearby lots. Just don’t forget to get your parking stamp, pass, or receipt to redeem these perks.

Additionally, the City of New Orleans observes several meter holidays, offering free parking on certain days like New Year's Day, Mardi Gras Day, and Christmas Day.

Are there toll roads in New Orleans?

Yes, New Orleans has some tolls. The main one is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, which connects Metairie (near New Orleans) to Mandeville across the lake. If your plans take you outside the city, there's another toll road — the Louisiana Highway 1 Bridge — heading toward the Gulf Coast.

Some tolls accept cash, but many are electronic only, so check ahead and plan accordingly.

Where can I find gas stations and EV chargers in New Orleans?

Gas stations are widely available throughout New Orleans, especially along major roads like Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue.

For electric vehicles (like an electric luxury SUV), EV charging stations are accessible at parking garages like those on 412 O'Keefe Ave or 435 Camp St, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and various hotels like Aloft and Windsor Court in the downtown area.

Do I need to rent a car in New Orleans?

Whether you're heading to the stunning beaches of Atlantic Beach, the historic Fort Jackson, or the picturesque plantations along the River Road, having your own transportation makes getting there easy and convenient.
