Book the perfect car
Few Australian experiences are as delightfully surreal as watching kangaroos and wallabies wander across the beach at sunrise. Cape Hillsborough National Park sits just north of town and rewards early starts with dramatic coastal scenery and peaceful walking trails. Having a hire car means you can arrive before the crowds, stay longer, and avoid limited transport options. The drive itself is beautiful too, winding through coastal stretches and pockets of rainforest.
Up in the hills west of Mackay, Eungella National Park offers rainforest walks, lookouts, and one of Australia’s best chances to spot platypus in the wild. A rental car gives you the freedom to tackle the winding roads at your own pace, stopping at bakeries and scenic lookouts along the way. The cooler mountain air also provides a welcome break from the tropical Queensland heat, particularly during summer.
Closer to town, Mackay Harbour delivers waterfront dining, marina views, walking paths, and the kind of sea breeze that instantly improves your mood. A Mackay car hire makes it easy to move between the harbour, the city centre, and nearby beaches without worrying about parking metres or bus timetables.
