Very disappointing experience. A host's professionalism matters most when something goes wrong.
During our family trip to Maui, we experienced repeated vehicle wobbling at road/highway speeds, intermittent tire-pressure monitoring failures, and backup-camera issues. These concerns were reported promptly, documented on video, and shared directly with Thomas. A separate storage-lock malfunction also required his attention and repair.
While Thomas was initially responsive, his attitude changed dramatically when we requested an early return due to safety concerns.
Rather than respectfully addressing what we experienced, he eventually accused us of fabricating problems and attempting to obtain a refund dishonestly. Those are serious and inappropriate accusations to make against guests who reported concerns in good faith and provided supporting recordings.
Thomas claimed a subsequent inspection found no issues. However, an inspection that does not reproduce an intermittent problem does not prove the guest invented it. We never claimed to know the precise mechanical cause. We reported what happened while driving with our children.
We returned the Jeep early, fully fueled and undamaged. Despite the difficult communication and initial billing outcome, Turo ultimately issued us a full refund after we escalated the matter.
**The most disappointing part wasn't the vehicle itself. It was how the host treated us after we raised concerns.**
Guests should be able to report potential safety problems without having their integrity attacked. I hope Thomas takes future reports seriously, investigates intermittent issues thoroughly, and treats other renters with greater professionalism and respect.
Trust and accountability matter more than a five-star host rating. I would not rent from Thomas again.

His complaints triggered an expensive safety inspection that revealed the Jeep was in perfect working order. It felt particularly obvious that he actually wanted a different type of vehicle and was willing to say absolutely anything to get out of his nonrefundable trip
