⭐ 1/5 — Extremely Disappointing Experience
Unfortunately, this was a terrible rental experience, primarily because of communication and an agreement that was not honored.
At the very beginning of the rental, I specifically asked Mitar through the Turo app if I could keep the truck and extend the rental for a much longer period. He agreed, told me that worked perfectly for him, and indicated that he had blocked off the additional time for me. We discussed it again about a week before my original return date, and I was again told everything was good.
I relied on that agreement when making my work and travel plans. I was working all the way across Pennsylvania in Allentown and had absolutely no expectation that I would need to suddenly return the truck on the original date.
When the original rental period was getting ready to expire, I contacted Mitar so we could process the extension as we had already agreed. Suddenly, there was no response whatsoever. I called repeatedly, sent messages through the app, texted, and left messages. Nothing.
I honestly didn't know what was going on. At one point I was concerned something might have happened to him because the communication went completely cold. Meanwhile, I'm hundreds of miles from home with a vehicle whose rental period is about to expire, despite having an agreement in writing that I was supposed to be keeping it.
After multiple attempts to reach him and still having no idea what I was supposed to do, I finally started driving back toward home because I wasn't comfortable continuing to use a vehicle without the extension being processed.
Only then did I finally hear back, essentially telling me he needed the truck returned. There was no meaningful explanation for disappearing, no acknowledgment of our previous agreement, and no consideration for the position his lack of communication had put me in.
Had I been told from the beginning that this vehicle was only available for the original rental period, I WOULD NOT HAVE RENTED IT. I rented it and made plans around the understanding that the longer extension had been agreed upon.
Plans can change, and I understand that. But if something changes, communicate it. Don't agree to an extended rental, reconfirm it, allow a customer to plan around it, and then stop responding when it's time to actually process the extension.
The truck itself wasn't the issue. The reliability of the agreement and the complete breakdown in communication were.
Based on my experience, I would not rent from this host again.
