Where to eat? - Pizza cafe (under new ownership) is a go-to spot. Kualapuu Cookhouse has closed its doors :( The food truck next to Fish and Dive gas station is good (open Monday - Friday 11a-230p). Str8 Cheffin is a nice new joint in town across from Misakis grocery. Molokai Burger is good for a quick bite. Paddlers (in town) and Hiros (Hotel Molokai) would be considered "upscale" and are the 2 bars on island. Where can we get fresh fish on the island? - Rolene is often in town selling out of the back of her pickup truck with a big FRESH FISH sign. Normally parked right next to Molokai Fish and Dive. Otherwise, check in with the Fish and Dive as they occasionally have fresh fish in stock. Where can we get fresh produce? - Kumu farms near the airport or Sustainable Molokai ( sustainablemolokai.org ) or at the Saturday market at the Molokai Community Health Center (Sat morning till about 1pm) What's the best way to snorkel on island? - Snorkeling from shore is doable but the best way to snorkel and scuba is with Molokai Fish and Dive. Turo policy is zero off-pavement. This means the dirt road to Make Horse, the forest reserve, Hale O Lono, Moomomi and any other dirt road are off limits. We do utilize AI enhanced supported fleet tracking devices and software. If that sounds like overkill, its because you dont know what people have done with our vehicles in the past. Should I drive down to Halawa valley? - The road to Halawa valley is paved the entire way and OK to drive on as long as it's not heavily raining. That being said, the road is very narrow at some points and very windy. If you are prone to motion sickness, you may be in for a long, unenjoyable ride. If you are at all uncomfortable driving in windy, narrow conditions, we would not recommend this. Also, keep in mind that, although unlikely, a flat tire or tow out of Halawa Valley would be very inconvenient and costly. Please be extra sensitive to the locals if you do venture out east. This is their home and definitely nothing like Maui or Waikiki! For hiking, we recommend going to the falls with Greg ( halawavalleymolokai.com ) because you need to go through PRIVATE property to get there. What if I get a flat tire or low tire pressure light comes on? - Reference the tire and lockout materials in the glovebox. Kiawe thorns puncturing tires are not uncommon. Especially when folks dont follow the rules. Please call or text to inform us and drive the vehicle to Bobo's or Mike at Izzi Auto in town. They should be able to help you out quickly for a few dollars. Obviously, do not drive the vehicle if the tire is flat(!) ** Turo policy is zero off pavement driving.
