My experience with this vehicle was unfortunately very concerning. The car was in rough condition upon pickup, and during my trip it began misfiring, bucking, and displayed a flashing check engine light. Based on the severity of those symptoms, I felt it was unsafe to continue driving and arranged for the vehicle to be towed through Turo to avoid any potential or further damage.
When I communicated these issues to the host and told him I had reached out to turo and they stated it needed to be towed, he told me to continue driving the vehicle, stating it only needed an oil change, and later described the behavior as “normal” for this car. Given the safety concerns, I did not feel comfortable following that guidance. I was also surprised to learn the vehicle had another reservation scheduled the same day despite these unresolved mechanical issues.
After the tow, a damage claim was filed against me that is inaccurate.
Additionally, I discovered an Apple AirTag hidden in the trunk area among the jack equipment, which was not disclosed.
Overall, I cannot recommend this vehicle due to safety concerns, lack of transparency, and how the situation was handled.
