Terrible experience. The host was difficult from the start, and the car was in shockingly poor condition. It was old, beat down, and clearly not maintained.
Driving from the airport to Brighton we realized it was not safe. The front end made awful noises (sounded like the axle might break), the brakes felt like metal on metal, the tire pressure warning kept going off, and the rear tires were below minimum tread. Once the day warmed up, the car also reeked of skunk!
I spent over 90minutes across multiple calls with Turo customer service just trying to explain that the vehicle was not acceptable. We finally returned it, walked to Enterprise, and rented a brand new Toyota for $300 less than this beat-up Audi. They provided a refund but still charged me $200 for one day of using this vehicle. I intend to fight that!
With Turo you’re relying on a stranger’s maintenance and standards. My one previous Turo experience was really great, but this one made me seriously question whether it’s worth the risk.
