I rented this car in west palm Florida to go to Coral Springs for a birth. My destination was 40 minutes away from west palm. 25-30 minutes into my trip on the highway in the express lane the engine light goes on and the car starts to slow and pull. I was stuck on the express lane for 6 miles before I could exit with cars behind me. While on the express lane I called the host and told him car is not driving properly and would not drive above 60 and seemed to be slowing down more. The host told me after me driving 30 minutes into my destination that I had to turn around and bring the car back. As he is telling me this, the car starts to jerk and the miles per hour continue to decrease. We asked if he could send a tow as the car was not safe to drive back on the highway and issue us another vehicle. The host told me several times that’s not the way it works I would have to drive the car back and then pick up a new one. While on the phone again the car jerked. I explained I would not drive the car in its condition on the highway and put my family at risk. He stated to send me a location where he could pick up the vehicle. It took forever for me to exit the highway because it would go down to 52 miles per hour , slow down then go back to 60. . When I finally got off the highway I was able to drive 14 to 20 miles with hazard light on and actually had a police officer drive up next to me and after I told him what was going on he escorted me to the hospital which was a few minutes away. I parked the vehicle and gave the location to the host. He then proceeded to send me text advising that he told me several times to stop and pull over and that any damage that I may have caused would be billed to me. He is a liar. He told me several times that’s I had to drive the car back and then proceeded to call me a liar and say there probably was not even anything wrong with the car. I have photos stamped at the time I called him showing the engine light on. He also mistakenly sent me proof that the car was having issues when he sent me my travel log which confirmed from 7:49pm to 8:30pm the mph traveling decreased significantly to 14 mph as I drove it through city streets to the hospital parking lot.
This guy is rude and when we asked him when was the last time the car was checked out thoroughly he stated that morning. That is a lie, we asked him to send proof and he never did. I have rented from Turo several times and never had any issues. This host should not be able to rent out on this app.
