The Jeep was clean and the host was responsive.
However, the first mechanical alert "check engine" came on right as I reached my much anticipated destination and stayed on remainder of trip. Multiple subsequent flashings of the "TPMS Malfunction Indicator" light on the return trip forced stressful, schedule-disruptive pullovers on dark roads at night. Cruise control was also non-functional once check engine light was on.
Upon return, the host offered a discount on a future rental, kind, but offers zero value for a ruined experience as a first time Turo driver.

I am very sorry that this situation caused you stress and inconvenience.
The issue was reduced catalytic converter efficiency—something I had suspected, given that it was the only aftermarket part on the vehicle.
The car undergoes regular inspections and is in excellent condition.
Unfortunately, a drop in efficiency cannot be detected until the error occurs.
The catalytic converter and TPMS sensor have been replaced.
