I rented a vehicle through this company with the intention of using it for an extended period, as I rely on driving for work. However, less than 30 minutes after picking up the car, I noticed a safety concern with the brakes feeling loose while driving. Because of this, I immediately decided to return the vehicle.

I contacted the host to request approval for an early return, explaining that I had only had the car for a very short time. In an effort to avoid causing any issues for the host through the app, I initially stated that I felt uncomfortable driving the vehicle and that it felt larger than I was comfortable with, rather than emphasizing the brake issue. In hindsight, that was a mistake, as it led to unnecessary pushback.

The host denied the early return request, citing a 3 day minimum rental requirement. I explained my situation further, including that I am on a limited budget and that this vehicle was essential for getting to work, but the host remained unwilling to approve the return, even after I ended up being transparent about the brakes as well. Due to the lack of cooperation, I contacted Turo customer support directly and was able to receive a refund through them.

Despite this, the host did not update or close the trip and kept it open for the full six days of the original reservation, even though the vehicle was returned within 30 minutes and was not used. The car was returned in pristine condition, in the exact location where it was picked up.

Throughout the process, communication from the host was unhelpful and unprofessional. I felt that my safety concerns were dismissed, and I was accused of simply trying to obtain a refund, despite clearly stating that I felt unsafe driving the vehicle. Given that I drive regularly for work, this should have been considered a reasonable and valid concern.

Overall, the lack of urgency, poor communication, and unwillingness to work toward a fair resolution made this a disappointing experience. I would not feel comfortable renting from this host again.
