Overall this was a decent rental, cool car and I am grateful but there were a couple hiccups that prevented this from being a perfect 5-star experience. I think better customer service/host responses would have made up somewhat but didn’t really get that.

1) Car looks great in photos but photos don’t really reflect the actual current condition of the car. Example- oxidation on headlights is not shown in photos. Oxidation on trim also not really fully shown in photos but very apparent IRL. The photos on the Turo post were taken around 30k miles ago. Wear and tear is expected but the photos should accurately show that (or just get your headlights de-fogged/new trim).

2) The car had a check engine light (CEL) come on while driving, stating “engine control fault.” The car was thankfully driving fine despite this but any rental should be in pristine mechanical condition and not throwing CELs. It caused me to question the safety and reliability of the vehicle on the trip and was also an inconvenience in the back of my mind having to worry about it.

3) the CEL wasn’t fully a deal breaker but the response from the owner when I messaged them about it kind of was. When I messaged and sent a photo to the owner regarding the CEL, I was given what looked like a boilerplate copy/paste type response that started with “And just to let you know” as if the Check Engine Light was something that they were going to tell me about (or maybe tell other renters) but didn’t say until it actually gave the CEL. That shows that they expected the CEL to happen and that it’s a recurring issue. In their response, I wasn’t offered any other type of support or way to reconcile this, just kind of offhandedly told to continue driving and trust them. I would have appreciated a hand-written response that tried to proactively address my problem, maybe offering a small discount for the inconvenience, or pretty much anything but it didn’t seem like my customer experience was a concern.

The CEL (whether the car drives fine with it or not) should be fixed before the car is rented out again. It’s also embarrassing/janky to be dropping off a car with a CEL to valet at a hotel.

4)Minor issue but the non-OEM key fob doesn’t always work fully, the alarm went off after opening the passenger door early one morning while the car was unlocked and was difficult to turn off.

Thank you for being open to my feedback.

KK's BigMotor's response

Dear Parveen, thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear the car drove smoothly overall. We sincerely apologize for the AC issue you experienced. As soon as it was brought to our attention, we immediately added refrigerant and resolved the cooling problem. Thank you for letting us know, and we appreciate your understanding.

All great
