The windshield had a significant crack that we were not made aware of prior to the trip. We only noticed it when we arrived to pick up the car and immediately informed the host. At that point, we didn’t really have an option other than to proceed with the vehicle as-is. Unfortunately, this was concerning since we had to drive from San Francisco to Napa, and driving with a cracked windshield did not feel particularly safe or reassuring. It also took away from the overall experience of our trip.
Additionally, the car was not clean when we picked it up. When we brought this to the host’s attention, they explained that they were unable to clean it for a particular reason and offered to reimburse us if we took it to a car wash ourselves. While we appreciated the offer to reimburse us, we don’t feel that cleaning the vehicle should have been our responsibility. We expected the car to be clean and in good condition when we picked it up for our vacation.
On the positive side, the hosts were very prompt and responsive with communication, and the car itself drove well. Overall, though, the windshield condition and cleanliness at pickup made the experience less enjoyable than expected.
