The Jeep itself was great to drive, though clearly well-used — some stains on the upholstery and general wear, but honestly that was no problem for me at all.
The real issue was that the power steering failed while I was driving, which made the car genuinely unsafe — nearly impossible to steer at low speeds or on sharp turns. What made it harder was that Ed was not very responsive. He mostly replied only when he was worried I'd leave the car somewhere it might get a ticket, and once that was sorted he went quiet again. When you're dealing with a mechanical failure in an unfamiliar car, in a foreign country with no local phone number, that lack of support is stressful and disappointing.
I'd have appreciated a host who treated a safety issue with more urgency. The car has potential, but I can't recommend the experience based on how the situation was handled.
First of all I was very responsive and communicating with you in real-time to make sure you were able to park safely. Given that this happened Saturday at almost 11 pm and far away from where I was there was nothing much I could do other than make sure that you and the car were safe and let you know that I will take care of it the following day.

Due to issues with the car I rented, a last-minute switch had to occur. Instead of canceling, owner offered a different car - which is appreciated. The jeep was bulkier than I wanted, but handled very well driving in Tahoe snow (note: driver has to shift into 4-wheel drive). Plenty of space for ski/snowboard equipment. Recommend if comfortable driving a hefty car.

Ok experience overall. Just keep in mind that fuel gauge is not working and the engine light is on. Upon pickup the car wasn’t clean and previous user left trash. Host response times could be improved.
