Do not rent this vehicle. Only 1 hour and 30 minutes after pickup, the engine completely failed and lost all acceleration on the highway. We barely managed to exit, and the car died completely at the exit traffic light, forcing us to push it to the side of the road.Turo’s response made a bad situation much worse. They insisted on sending roadside assistance first to check the battery, which wasted time only to confirm it was a major mechanical issue. We then had to wait for a tow truck that never even arrived.In total, my family—including my children—was left stranded on the side of the road in extreme heat for 3.5 hours with a non-operating vehicle. This completely ruined half of our day, missed our important events, and forced us to delay eating until a late brunch at 2:00 PM while trying to figure out alternative transportation. This car is an absolute safety hazard ⚠️ wish they could have atleast compensated rather than saying muster can just refund you when the car gets back to San Diego which wasn’t until 9 pm .

However, we want to clarify for future guests that after the vehicle was returned, it underwent a thorough mechanical inspection, including Turo's maintenance inspection documentation. The mechanic found no mechanical defects, and the vehicle was cleared to return to service. We take any reported vehicle concern seriously and would never knowingly rent a vehicle with a safety issue.
