Unfortunately, my experience with this rental was disappointing. The vehicle itself was clean and appeared to be well maintained; however, as soon as I opened the door during the initial inspection, there was a very strong cigarette smell inside.
I’m not sure whether the odor was from a previous renter or the owner, but it was extremely noticeable. I tried airing the vehicle out while driving and even purchased air fresheners in hopes of making it more tolerable, but unfortunately, nothing helped.
I was traveling with three young children, all 6 years old and under, and the cigarette smell eventually became so unbearable that I made the decision to return the vehicle early. I simply was not comfortable having my children continue riding in a vehicle with such a strong and persistent cigarette odor.
There was also an issue with the pickup location. The actual location was not the same as the one listed on Turo, and I had to wait for a response in order to receive the correct pickup information. This added unnecessary inconvenience at the beginning of the rental.
I understand that the cigarette odor may have been caused by a previous renter and may not have been directly within the owner’s control. However, given how strong the smell was, I do feel the vehicle should have been properly deodorized before being rented again, especially since Turo vehicles are expected to be ready for the next guest at pickup.
While I appreciate that the vehicle was otherwise clean, between the overwhelming cigarette odor and the confusion regarding the pickup location, I unfortunately could not continue with the rental and had to return the vehicle.

This renter actually smoked in the vehicle and claimed that the vehicle smelled like smoke! The renter went and bought air fresheners to try and cover up their smoking violation, I was very disappointed that the renter claims the smoking was the hosts fault. On top of that the truck was obviously take to on off road location and used like a work truck and came back covered in dirt and drink spills all over the back seats pf the vehicle.
