This car was awesome and the host was very responsive and had very good communication. I was able to go see my family after a year so very much appreciated.:)

This was, unfortunately, the worst Turo experience I've ever had.
When I picked up the 2017 Jeep Patriot, it already had a noticeable clanking/rattling noise coming from the engine compartment, and the check oil light was illuminated. Less than 24 hours later, the vehicle wouldn't start despite no lights or accessories being left on. I immediately contacted the host but didn't receive a response for over three hours.
AAA was eventually dispatched and determined the battery was failing. The technician also pointed out that the battery housing was completely loose inside the engine compartment, which likely explained the rattling noise I had noticed from the start.
Rather than assisting directly, the host instructed me to drive to Walmart to have the battery replaced. I lost the better part of an entire vacation day dealing with repairs and even had to pay for the replacement myself because Walmart couldn't process the host's payment over the phone.
During a phone conversation, the host apologized and agreed to reimburse me by providing two complimentary rental days and covering my fuel. Based on those assurances, I continued using the vehicle instead of requesting a replacement through Turo.
After the rental, however, the host denied making those promises despite our messages documenting the discussion. The promised two complimentary days were never processed through Turo.
After the rental, the host began claiming that the battery had been in perfectly fine condition and that he replaced it only "to make me happy." That statement is difficult to reconcile with the fact that the vehicle would not start, AAA diagnosed the battery as failing, and the battery was replaced before I could continue my trip. The explanation simply does not match what occurred or the findings documented by AAA.
The vehicle also could not be returned just 30 minutes later because I was told it had another renter immediately afterward, yet the vehicle appeared to remain available in the app. The owner then tried to invoice me for gas, which I have now had to formally take the time to dispute and provide screenshots of our conversations.
Overall, the vehicle was not in acceptable mechanical condition, communication was slow during a breakdown, and the commitments made to resolve the situation were ultimately not honored. I also discovered during my vacation that the owner had been tracking the vehicle location (and therefore my whereabouts) without my knowledge. I cannot recommend renting this vehicle based on my experience.
