Great trip over all

Car worked well, was clean and easy to pick up and return. There was an air freshener in the car that was ridiculously overbearing so we removed it and then discovered it was masking a definite smoke smell — even though the listing says no smoking

The car itself was fine—clean, no odors (aside from an overpowering air freshener that was honestly unbearable), and overall it drove well. But that’s where the positives end.
The windshield wipers were in terrible condition, which became a serious issue because we drove through severe rain the entire trip. That’s not a minor inconvenience—it’s a safety problem. Supplying a vehicle with worn-out wipers is unacceptable.
What really pushed this experience into frustrating territory were the unexpected fees. I fully understood and accepted the mileage overage charges ahead of time—that part was clear. What was not clear, disclosed, or agreed to were the additional airport fee and a 3% card processing fee that were automatically charged. That feels misleading at best.
To make matters worse, the host was VERY responsive and communicative up until the point those charges went through. After that? Complete SILENCE! No explanation, no follow-up, nothing. That’s not how you treat customers—especially when there are legitimate concerns.
I followed all return instructions exactly as outlined, yet still ended up dealing with surprise charges and zero support.
Between the safety issue with the wipers, the excessive air freshener, and the lack of transparency and communication around fees, this was not a good experience.
I would not rent from this host again.
Based on multiple experiences, I would not use Turo again. The lack of transparency with fees and the absence of support when problems arise make it hard to trust the platform overall.
At the end of the day I got new windshield wipers. Thanks for the constructive criticism.
